Two Defensive Play Makers Sign with Storm for 2010
01/22/2010
The Sioux Falls Storm of the Indoor Football League (IFL) have re-signed two more veterans for the 2010 season. Defensive end Leif Murphy and defensive lineman Rachman Crable will both be entering their third season with the Storm.
2009 marked Murphy’s second year with the Storm. In his 2007 Season with the Storm, Murphy played 14 games, finished second din the league in sacks (15), totaled 69 tackles and had two touchdowns, earning him a spot as a UIF All Star. Murphy left in 2008 to play in the AFL with the Grand Rapids Rampage, where he led the team in forced fumbles (3). He was also second on the team in sacks (3).
“Leif feels like he left a lot of unfinished business on the field last year,” said Head Couch, Kurtiss Riggs. “We’re excited to have him back healthy for 2010.”
The North Dakota State University alumnus was an All-UIF selection in both 2005 and 2006 as a member of the Omaha Beef defensive front. In 2005, Murphy tallied 48.5 tackles and finished third in the league with 10 sacks.
Crable finished the 2009 season with 8 sacks and ranked second in the IFL in tackles for loss with 20.5 tackles for a total of 91 yards in 12 games. In 2008, Crable tallied 36 tackles, 5 sacks, and 1 blocked kick in 10 games for the Storm.
“Rachman Crable brings not only athleticism and talent on the field, but also tremendous leadership, and we are excited to have him back,” said Head Couch, Kurtiss Riggs.
The Ball State alumni has also played for the Bloomington Extreme, former Indiana Firebirds and the Fort Wayne Freedom, where in 2005 he tied for the UIF league lead in sacks with 13.
