Arkansas Diamonds Report
Diamonds and the Stampede Express to Battle for the Top of the Lonestar East
By: J. Hurley
During the Diamonds bye week the Lonestar division was business as usual. The Corpus Christi Hammer heads followed up their defeat last week in Little Rock with another road loss to the undefeated Amarillo Venom. This win puts the Venom in firm control of the Lonestar West with a three game lead. The Austin Turf Cats pick up their second win after trouncing the Abilene Ruff Riders 68 to 34. This makes the Turf Cats 2 – 2 and the Ruff Riders continue to be winless at 0 – 4.
But the match up Diamonds fans had their eye on was the West Texas Roughnecks on the road against the San Angelo Stampede Express. Even though it was a close game into the final minutes the Stampede Express were able to fight off the Roughnecks and even their record with Arkansas. The Diamonds will travel to San Angelo on Saturday April 17th to face a Stampede Express team who is on a four game winning streak and tied for first place in the Lonestar East with a record of 4 and 1. Arkansas defeated San Angelo earlier this season and they will look to make it two in a row against as they battle for the top of the East.
Video broadcast coverage of the game is available through the B2 Network and the play by play is streamed live through the Creative Sports Network. After one more road game against the Abilene Ruff Riders the Diamonds will return to action at Verizon Arena May 1st when they will face the West Texas Ruffnecks.
