Don't get caught with your pants down in front of the visiting team. The photo doesn't look like much, but what happened at the time was funny.
The people standing at the wall are Freedom faithful at Peoria in 2005. We
were there early to partake in the ritual of tailgating. As fans wondered over
to see what was on the other side of the wall they quickly realized this is
where Peoria's coaches pulled up to the stadium. If you remember Cowdry
and his coaching staff, you will know these were large guys. So when the
coaches got out of their cars and an assistant had his belt buckle undone
(one hand holding his pants up, the other shutting the car door) he was
greeted
at home by a relentless barrage of heckling. I can only imagine
what he was thinking as he looked up (and buckled up) only to have
20 to 30 Freedom fans unleashing on him hours before game time. ;D
That incident set the tone for the entire game in which the Freedom faithful
were also asked by the Peoria stat crew to be quiet. (They couldn't hear the
calls on the field) Imagine that, fans making too much noise!
Final score: Freedom 41-13.
