PLAYERS OF WEEK:
Saginaw quarterback Tommy Jones is the UIFL's Offensive Player of the Week. He threw nine touchdown passes in the Sting's 59-41 win over Johnstown on Friday. The Sting, which leads the league in total offense, has a bye this week.
Northern Kentucky's Kenneth Joshen is the Defensive Player of the Week. The 5-10 corner had six tackles, three pass break-ups and two interceptions as the River Monsters beat Canton, 63-41, in their opener. He returned one interception for a TD.
Eastern Kentucky, which beat the Hammer, 38-26, on Friday, has the Special Team Player of the Week for the second straight week. Kicker Brandon Miller went 6-for-6 on PATs with an Uno (a kick through the uprights on a kickoff). He also recovered an onside kickoff.
