What an incredible @$$ this guy is. First they don't pay the girls anything and then he blames them for not doing enough to promote the team as the reason for folding them. I followed them all year and they were all over the community promoting the team, but that team and league itself should be doing marketing first and foremost.
The real reason they're folding them for this year is that their total expansion effort for the coming season didn't work as planned and they could only get 3 expansion teams started (Oklahoma City nixed them on coming to their town). So instead they're folding three teams they consider the weakest of the 13 (San Diego, Miami, and now Dallas) in order to keep the status quo of the last few years of 10 teams...easier scheduling as well. The following season they plan to try again on mass expansion and perhaps bring Dallas and maybe others back.

Dear Fans of the Dallas Desire;
Unfortunately, we at the LFL have chosen to temporarily suspend operations in Dallas for the upcoming 2011 | 2012 season. Ultimately, we do not feel we have the type of leadership and player commitment needed in Dallas to make for a successful LFL franchise.
Following the inaugural season we moved the franchise closer to Dallas and made a considerable investment to host Desire games at the Cotton Bowl. At which point we expressed the importance of player involvement in the community in order to make the Desire a success, yet nothing resulted from our efforts to motivate the returning veterans and as a result the rookies followed suit with veterans. The lack of player commitment to the team both on and off-the-field has forced our hand in temporarily suspending the franchise.
With the recent addition of coach Darrell Brummett and his staff, we feel we have taken the first step in rebuilding this franchise into a winner. However, in order to provide coach Brummett and the city of Dallas an opportunity, we must surround him with committed players both on and off-the-field. We realize there is exceptional talent on this team and a market that is perfect for LFL Football, but until we can be assured of a team that will support the league's efforts in getting involved in the community, we will have to suspend operations.
The LFL will return to Dallas next season and we will look forward to the new look Dallas Desire and a return to winning football for our incredible fans.
Sincerely,
Mitchell S. Mortaza
