The OtB rankings now also take into account the ranking of the opponents that a team faced. (which is new this week)
This is why Sioux Falls fell to #2, since they have (on average) had lower ranked opponents than some other teams. This is also why Omaha ends up a little higher in OtB than the others, since they have had one of the tougher schedules.

Great rankings.
This is also the first time we've had all three rankings ready for the same week, which was nice.
Too bad we can't get a coaches poll or another poll in there as well, but odds are low of that being given enough attention to be worth the trouble (I've tried for many years).

Nice job BC. I like it a lot. I think the combined ratings is pretty close to how I would vote if I could...Maybe we should have a objective fan poll. The keyword is OBJECTIVE. I would have Billings #1 and SF #2 in my poll this week....HAHA

How about Billings 1a, Sioux Falls 1b?

How many people would you desire to have in order to get a good enough base for a fan poll?

20.
Why 20 you ask? People will do it for the first few weeks and then quit. If we do a fan poll, we need it through to the end. I figure you need at least 15 to get the whacky results that some will submit averaged out.
The hard part is getting people to rank all 22 teams. It's easy for people to do the top five and bottom five, but after the top five they start losing interest and just start throwing teams in spots with not too much thought put into it.
To get as many people as is needed and to get them to last through to the end, and get them to put thought into all 22 spots, is next to impossible I've found.
If you have an idea on how it could be done though, let us know.

Another way to do a poll is to ask for top 10 positions ONLY. If we had 20 voters, chances are there'd be at least 15 teams getting votes. People like top 10 lists and that be easier and more fun for them to do.
The poll results would be factored into the combined rankings, but teams not receiving votes in the poll would just be sorted by their computer score.

Combined ranks would be compiled as such: 3 computer ranks + poll score divided by 4. For teams not receiving votes, their rank would be determined from the 3 computer ranks divided by 3.

Wow, good thoughts. I really don't have any additional insight to offer on the subject but if anything moves forward I'd be happy to provide input.

Top 10 would be a great way to go. Who cares about which is the crappier team Arizona or Amarillo anyway?

I would be up for a top 10 too. I think it will be more manageable than rankings all teams.

Well, this is what...4 of us. We need more people.
I'll advertise on the board and see if we can get more people interested.
