NOT
4 weeks into the season, and still no consistency when it comes to pre-week updates, and Live updated scores. This is not a "whining" moment a League Official has used towards me and my honest comments. All i can say is in year 1, i personally traveled to games each weekend, and ALL of our games had basically a live up to the score Twitter feed for each and every game. In year 2, we implemented a live scoreboard for every game PLUS the live to the score Twitter feed. This season, you MAY get a final Twitter score, or some games you get it by the quarter. The difference, the person in charge claims they are working smarter, because they aren't traveling, and can keep it updated better. Facts are what they are, this year, working smarter is falling way behind!
Another issue caught my attention this week. There was a story about the Alabama Hammers first game, a loss to the Defending SIFL Champion Columbus Lions. www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/03/post_200.html The Hammers claim that the game was called by the 2010 SIFL rules, not the Arena Rules. The Hammers Head Coach spoke to SIFL commissioner Gary Tufford, Alabama team president Joe Stroud said, and the organization received an apology. Any confusion about the rules is expected to be cleared up this week. This was week 1. Now i say it caught my eye because..... and remember i have been out of the SIFL since October. 2 days before the season started, the Lead Ref in the east sent me an email asking me to set up the file sharing program up for them like i did last year. I explained to him i have been out for months and directed him to the league office for that need to be met. Then the next day i speak to another ref from the league who tells me that they had not received a rule book, and they had a game to call that weekend. I sat there amazed, the lack of communication just isnt from the league level towards its fans, but the league level to its refs! Now, it is week 4, things have had time to work themselves out right? I spoke to the second ref this past week and asked him how things are going. He said they are still working on what is a rule and what isnt, this year.... a Month into the season and they still are unsure?
Also, a month into the season.... No official word from the league regarding what happened to Lafayette Wildcatters? We saw the reports from Lafayette, a story from Columbus about the league making schedule changes (not even the league announced the schedule changes). Lafayette is 0-3, they are still in the standings. In the first 2 seasons, when the teams folded, we removed them.... They were not coming back.....
As a fan, i want better. As a Former League official, I expect better!
