Pair of Vets Back On Board For '09 Express Season
OurSportsCentral
Reading Express GM/Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski announced today that he has re-signed a former Reading High and Mansfield player and 3 year member of the Express, Ian Cooper as well as IUP and Express All-Star Trent Jones. Ian played High School football here in Berks County at Reading High School and his college football at Mansfield. Coop is an original Express player and has been a part of some special games here with the Express, including becoming an Iron Man player for us in year one. In Reading , he was part of the team and the leagues first overtime game ever. As well as being a part of The 2007 Conference Championship Team that made an appearance in the AIFA Championship Bowl. Last year Ian had a limited roll with the Express, due to a change in teams mid season and a few nagging injuries. "Ian brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the group. He will be a positive leader in our camp", said Nowotarski. Trent coming back to The Express is a big piece of our defensive puzzle. Trent last season had 3 sacks, 10 Interceptions, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Safety and 3 TD's on interceptions and kick-off returns with runs of 56 yards, 50 yards and 15 yards. "What most don't know is that Trent played the end of the season with a broken hand and would have his cast cut off on game day, wrapped up by our medical staff and then put a new cast back on after the game." "He's a great kid, a hard worker, he hits the gym hard and brings it on game day, and I am thrilled to have him back in Reading. At 6'2" and 235lbs, Trent has awesome physical skills and fits right in to my philosophy of strong physical D-Backs." remarked Nowotarski
