Due to the failure of the SIFL in 2011, the AIFA will return as the AIF in 2012. Below is the status of teams for 2012.

Basically for all of these teams, their 2012 options are (assuming the SIFL goes away) the AIFA and the UIFL. Erie, I suppose, could go CIFL (plans are to play in 2012, yes), but that's hardly likely.

I think the SIFL will return, but I don't think most of the East teams will stay in the league. Perhaps Columbus and Albany.
Yes, the AIFA and UIFL are the main options for most of the East teams.
There's an outside chance a few may choose the IFL or CIFL, but that is definitely less likely.
I know some may be surprised that the CIFL will return, but not I. I'll be surprised when it doesn't return (it is getting worse every year though, unfortunately).

It's too bad these leagues can't work together...it would save an awful lot on travel just with the locational redundancy of these teams...Canton, for example, has at least two teams (Marion & Erie) closer than their closest UIFL opponent (NKY for an ex-UIFLer or Huntington)

One of the constants of indoor football seems to be that there are too many egos, con-artists, and clueless people that cannot get along and work together efficiently. Hence the many leagues we have. We need a godfather to bring everyone together. I nominate the elder monk who took a vow of silence when he was 8-years-old from the "Hangover Part II" film.

I'd live with Larry, his brother Darryl, and his other brother Darryl if they could get anything accomplished.

Added Syracuse, New York as possible expansion.
Removed Albany, Alabama, and Columbus as possible league teams since it looks like they'll remain in a reworked SIFL with Louisiana and some expansion teams.

Fayetteville, Trenton, Carolina, Harrisburg (to Baltimore), Upstate New York (expansion), Richmond and Possibly Erie will reform AIFA after the failed expiriment of merging with SIFL in attempts to become AFL2. They were told go**** in a hat, So Morris restarting his old AIFA. with what? since he owns two , possibly three franchises in league. Failure round two. Have we seen this before, did it end well? Answqer is NO!

Moved Trenton to LOCK status.
Re-added Western Expansion as the AIFA seems intent to burn more Western markets.
