Massey Prediction: Sioux Falls beats Omaha by 33 points (63-30), over/under of 93 points. OtB Prediction: Sioux Falls beats Omaha by 24 points (62-38), over/under of 100 points. I was surprised by the spread on this one. 33 and 24 is pretty large considering the total difference in both previous games was 6 points and a split of both winning at home. Sioux Falls is also favored to take a seven game series 4-0 according to Massey's predictions. I agree that the Storm should be favored, but still think the Beef can keep it close and have a slight shot at an upset. Mind says Storm, heart says go Beef...make them 0-2 in their last two games (the start of a new streak)!

Coming into the game Omaha (10-5) is ranked #3 and Sioux Falls (13-1) is ranked #1. Both teams split the series this year, so this is the rubber match. The battle of the titans continues this week, with one team heading for a too early playoff exit.

The arena can seat very close to 5,000. I don't recall the arena being less than 2/5 full. I just don't believe we have had less than 2,000 during that time frame. By the way, haven't missed a game since 2006 playoffs. The arena seats 4700 for hockey and football. (this doesn't count the end zone "boxes") last years game playoff game versus Omaha, it was less than 50% full (4700 *.5 = 2350) due to weather or fan apathy, I'm not sure...Pointstreak football has no place to input attendance, and the Storm hasn't advertised these figures since 2008 that I can remember. If we're flying colors, missed one home game since 2004, and missed only 3 games total in the last two years (last season @bil regular season, this season @ Kent, and @chicago) I've got a few miles under my belt for this team like I said.. struggle to get to 2000 as I could walk up to the box office tomorrow and get 2 6th row tickets in Section D Not trying to start argument here, but this is a no BS zone to be sure. I'm not sure how Kent V, Collin, and Co. made the playoff games "sell out" in 2005-2008 but they did, I had 13 seats in 2007 for the playoffs, and could have used more.. I can't GIVE my extras for Saturday's game away.. I'm pretty sure you can get more than 4,800 for a Storm game. According to qkstats, United Bowl III had an attendance 0f 4,907. Without giving away who I am what I've had access to, when the Storm would announce a sellout, I remeber the number being 4,8?? something. Now I realize that wasn't the exact attendance because they didn't account for no-shows and it was for tix accounted for. If we were ever below 2,000, it was in the last 2 years because of the insurance debacle. In the 2007 playoffs, we were never below 4,000 in attendance.

Football Gameplan has a game preview available here:
While I don't agree, I can see his thoughts. It should make for a great game!

Remember that the computer rankings and predictions take into account all of the games played by these teams, not just the games against each other. Sioux Falls had some huge blowouts and scored a ton of points, and Omaha lost a few they should have won.

Football Gameplan has a game preview available here: While I don't agree, I can see his thoughts. It should make for a great game! He doesn't really follow the league. He basically looks at a few stats and throws out a prediction with nothing real behind it (I've looked at his other vids). His graphics look impressive, but he uses the same program for everything and just changes the images each time for whichever team he's talking about. It's a nice setup, don't get me wrong, but my daughter could make better predictions. He did pick the BEEF, but he forgot to mention that the score will be BEEF 108, Storm 43.

Sioux Falls had some huge blowouts and scored a ton of points, and Omaha lost a few they should have won. Oh, I know. But when comparing two teams that have played twice already, computer rankings kind of fail when using them for comparisons since they have so much extra data that's not relevant (the Beef should've been blown out in Omaha, but instead they won). A truer stat representation for this game would be to compare the stats of their previous two meetings. Just like in the BCS, they'll always throw in poll results since computer rankings miss things (just as the polls do as well with the biased human element). These things are just cool to do is all, the players determine the results.

4.881 was announced for United Bowl IV. regardless, it was less than or right at half full on June 26th 2010 against Omaha in the first round of the playoffs. Which means it was just over 2000 maybe 2500 people...including BEEF fans in thunder alley. perhaps you recall, big thunderstorm, lights went out during national anthem. What I'm getting at is that I can walk up THREE DAYS before a playoff game in SIOUX FALLS and buy 2 seats in the SIXTH ROW of the upper deck, in the middle (25 yard line) section. and that a group of 8 can be had in row in row 10 of Section D...I'm using applied inference here to guess at an attendance figure, I'm hoping I'm way wrong... As I explained the "official" Sioux Falls Arena capacity for football and hockey does not include the end zone party suites, nor does it include the new corner seating on the south end, and might actually be off for football because of the additional seats gained by NOT having the hockey boxes in place. It's a flawed number, but it's a good baseline. I stated my OPINION, based on the information that is publicly available that attendance MIGHT BE really low for this game.

I do remember the lights going out. Right at "Bombs Bursting in Air."
My OPINION is you have nothing to worry about and the arena will be rockin saturday night.
If the Storm will be lucky to get 2,000 fans to the game, then Omaha is in big trouble because the last thing they need is for the Storm to have luck on their side.

I can't wait for the game. Wish I could be there. I always get bummed after a loss there, but I have seen the Beef win there too (but that doesn't happen often enough). I would just like to see something good happen for my team in the playoffs. Yes, the win against Bloomington was nice, but a win against the arch rival is what is really needed.

Oh, I wasn't commenting on the energy of the crowd, which even at the reduced numbers, was AWESOME.. just a simple numbers game. give me 2250 rowdy Storm fans over 4800 Stampede fans if ya know what I mean..
