What a surprise...NOT.
Wonder where Jim Terry will move on to now, hopefully obscurity.

Reno Barons' season ends early, personnel not paid

The Reno Barons’ indoor football season is over earlier than planned, due to a shortage of funds.
Team owner Chez Jennings said Wednesday an investor in the team backed out, leaving the Barons about $56,000 short.
Jennings said originally that money would not have been needed, but as the season went on, the Barons expended too much money paying for opponents to travel to and stay in Reno.
“Every team that came in, we had to pay their bills to come in,” Jennings said. “We weren’t expecting that.”
He said in addition to travel expenses, the Barons even paid one-game salaries for the visiting Tucson (Ariz.) players. When the Las Vegas team found out the Barons would pay expenses, that team also asked for financial help.
“We had enough money to cover the season,” Jennings said. “We really didn’t need that investor at the beginning of the season, but he was a cushion. Now we need that cushion and now there’s no money.”
Jennings said the Barons’ current players will be paid, but he could not put a time frame on exactly when.
“I wasn’t thinking that (for) some of these players, their salary is all they have,” Jennings said. “I put together more of a football team than a business. I didn’t plan on losing $400,000. It’s nobody’s fault but my own.”
He also plans to bring the team back next year and said he already has sponsors lined up to help.
Jennings said it costs about $350,000 a year to run the team. He said weekly expenses to host a game are about $8,900, not including player salaries.
The Barons competed as an independent in their abbreviated 2010 season, playing against indoor football teams from Las Vegas, Stockton, (Calif.) and other Western cities.
According to the schedule on the team’s website, the Barons were scheduled to play a home game Friday, then finish their season with a road game in Stockton on July 2.
