www.knoxnews.com/news/2011/aug/30/cedar-rapids-getting-own-indoor-football-team/CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Officials say Cedar Rapids will be getting its first professional football team.
The Cedar Rapids Titans have been formed to play in the Indoor Football League, which has 22 teams and is based in Richmond, Va.
A news release from the Titans says the IFL is a developmental league that helps players toward their goal of competing in the national Football League.
The 14-game season begins in March. The Titans are in the league's Great Lakes Division, which includes teams in Green Bay, Chicago and Bloomington, Ill.
The Titans say they'll play the 2012 season at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena and hope to move to the renovated US Cellular Center in 2013.
The Titans have scheduled a news conference for Tuesday to discuss the league and the team.

Chris Kokalis appears involved. He started with the CIFL's Milwaukee Bonecrushers (left that org pretty early on) - was also a co-owner and president of the AIFA's Arctic Predators for a spell.

So, La Crosse isn't listed as being part of the division, if Kokalis is involved, and I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone on the Spartans for weeks, no one is ever at their office....
What that means to me is that he is leaving La Crosse and moving the team to Cedar Rapids with a new name. I will try to confirm this, but it all adds up to me.

Nothing official from the Spartans either way. And for the record, the above was my guess based on connecting the dots in my head, and nothing more.

Either way, this doesn't engender a lot of confidence in the quality of the organization.

Information I've subsequently received indicates Micah's concerns are more likely true than false.

Kokalis will try to sell the La Crosse team, but I doubt he'll get a taker. Sorry Micah.

If the price is right, you never know.

Cedar Rapids is a great market! A good move to be in land of the "5 smells". You would have to be from there to understand that one.

How does Kokalis continue to get investors to give him teams to run? This guy is a heck of a salesman, except he apparently can't sell sponsorships or tickets.
Only in the world of indoor football does a guy get this many chances.
My prediction: The Titans will last only one or two years.
