Records are indeed deceiving in the SIFL.
Abilene is listed as having a 4-5 league record, but in actuality are 2-6 on the field of play against league opponents (one loss against Mobile Bay was overturned into a forfeit win when Mobile Bay folded and they received another forfeit win over Lafayette even though they folded before the season began).
Louisiana is listed as having a 7-2 league record, but are 4-2 on the field of play (they also received forfeit wins, three of them).
Interesting that a 2-6 team is actually in the last playoff spot in the West right now, isn't it? Lipstick on a pig indeed.

Struggling Ruff Riders face Swashbucklers in home finale
By staff reports
May 20, 2011
Tonight marks the final regular-season home game for the Abilene Ruff Riders, and the team would like nothing better than to give its fans a long-awaited and much-needed win.
That could prove difficult for the 4-5 club, which hasn't won a Southern Indoor Football League game on the field since its April 2 win over now-defunct Mobile Bay. The team was held scoreless in the fourth quarter of last week's 48-24 loss to Rio Grande Valley, with Arena League veteran Kirt Griffin making his Ruff Riders debut.
The Ruff Riders are battling the Magic (3-6) and Corpus Christi (4-4) for the third and fourth playoff spots in the Western Conference. But records can be deceiving in the SIFL. Over the next two weeks, the Magic were scheduled to play Mobile Bay and defunct Lafayette, and the forfeit wins will up their record to 5-6 with another game against the Ruff Riders scheduled for June 5 in Hidalgo. RGV already has two wins over the Ruff Riders this season.
Corpus Christi, which Abilene beat 83-27 in their season opener March 19, will get forfeit wins over Lafayette and Mobile Bay.
But before Abilene can think about a Rio Grande rematch, it must play a 7-2 Swashbucklers team that is firmly locked in as the No. 2 team in the conference behind unbeaten Houston. The Swashbucklers dropped a 64-57 decision at Katy last weekend. Tonight will be the final game of a four-game road trip for the Swashbucklers and the second meeting of the season between the teams. The Ruff Riders lost 70-38 at the Taylor County Coliseum on April 16.
Turnovers continue to plague the Ruff Riders, who gave up the football three times last Sunday.
Griffin wound up 20-for-35 for 200 yards with two TD passes and a pick. Ruff Riders coach Shon King said who starts at quarterback — Griffin or Larry Dockery.
"The guys are still excited because we're still in the playoff race," King said. "It's not like all in lost. We're going through this situation with the quarterbacks, but we still have something to fight for. We've got guys who are still hungry and eager to play."
