There will be no SIFL in 2012, the league has disbanded. A collapse like this hasn't been seen since the end of the NIFL. The collapse of the AIFA one year ago has to be ranked third, but the SIFL's demise after 2011 is definitely entrenched in second place. A just reward for apathy and corruption by those in charge at the top.

this sucks, i liked the number of teams this year. 2010 was terrible and it looks like 2012 will be terrible as well.

Well, the SIFL had an opportunity to do something good this year and they totally didn't care. It's no one's fault but their own that they'll have a mass exodus of teams this off-season.

Boy, that would be great if the SIFL could convince all of Dittman's teams to stay and then try to get the Lonestar Divison of the IFL to come over! They should give Dittman what he wants, let him have a bigger part in the league.

Abilene...I have no idea...haven't heard much on them. Very slim shot of the IFL teams joining the SIFL for next year as well.

That is banannas! Texas is perfect for the league! They should make Dittman the commissioner and be done with it. If the only reason Tufford was the commissioner is to spur on the AFL2 buy out, then let's chunk him the duece and let the league be run by a guy that can make a difference!

Updated Florida Stingrays from probable expansion to announced EXPANSION.
Assuming Alabama, Albany, Columbus, and Louisiana return, then that puts the current number of teams for 2012 at five.

They took down all the SIFL references on their site. They'll be joining an entirely new league that will be officially announced in approximately 2-3 weeks.

Updated the list of defections.
Added a parting note on the fall of another league (so richly deserved).
