Thorne might as well thrown his money in the fire...same results.

Hager sells Swashbucklers (5/31)
May 31, 2011
By WARREN ARCENEAUX / AMERICAN PRESS
The Louisiana Swashbucklers introduced new owner Kyle Thorne, a Dallas businessman, at halftime of Saturday’s game.
Thorne purchased the team from Thom Hager, who Thorne said will remain involved with the team for a transition period that could last between 12 and 18 months.
Hager announced last year that he was looking to sell the team. Hager serves as president of the Southern Indoor Football League.
Terms of the sale were not released.
Chris Meaux, an Estherwood native, was named the team’s new general manager.
The team will remain in Lake Charles, Thorne said.
“We are going to keep it going and continue to make this a great organization,” said Thorne. “It is a wonderful opportunity to be involved in a family-oriented entertainment activity. Lake Charles is a phenomenal community and I am excited about this opportunity to add value to it by offering entertainment for families.”
Thorne said this is his first investment in a sports team.
“I have a master’s in sports management from Ohio State and have some experience in other areas of sports such as apparel,” he said.
Meaux is a LSU graduate who said he will be moving back from Texas to south Louisiana.
“I was born and raised in Estherwood and moved to Texas for a while, but now I am coming home,” he said. “Kyle and I have been friends for more than 10 years. He said he did not want to buy the team without a Louisiana guy to help him run it.”
