If the SIFL is going to resort to issuing fines for these such things, as any professional league should, I sure hope that they've addressed the dasher pad situation in Lake Charles. Maybe I'm alone on this, but a thin piece of vinyl draped over hockey boards hardly qualifies as safe. Hopefully Thom has replaced those by now.

Until then, you have nerve going after Louisiana's dasher pads.

81-0 YIKES !
It was truly ugly, I gave up watching at halftime when the score was 44 - 0.
A couple thoughts here, The Swashbucklers arew 33-1 over the pas 3 years under the current coach and back to back Champions of the Intense Football League the past 2 years.
Florida wasn't supposed to play this season and were anticipating joining the lehaue next season with the addition of a Florida division/conference. One of the houston teams set to start up this season postponed until next season due to a owner's serious illness.
Every team except the Swashbucklers is an expansion team but Florida had less time than anyone to put a team together. They were terrible, I think a high school team would have a chance against them. I know, that's not nice. The delay of game penalties against the Kings were almost as common as an actual snap.
What the heck was up with the Florida Coaching, they were switching out QB's on every series? No wonder they were having exchange problems between the center and QB.
I was hoping to get a feel of how far ahead of the pack the Swashbuclers are but they'll have to play a real team first. Looks like a good idea for the Kings to join this season, maybe they'll figure out a game plan before next season when their games will actually count.

It's why I'm against road only teams. The games are never competitive; if someone from the real team gets seriously injured it's the most ridiculous way to go out, especially if it's career ending; the road teams never learn anything to improve off of since they are never very well organized and the coaches that are currently there won't be back, and if they are they will suck just as bad because a real coach wouldn't sign up for something like that; it's a league device to make the league look bigger than it is and to pad the win/loss records of the other teams, but in reality they should be exhibition games and not count in the standings. I could go on, but it doesn't matter since no one cares.

I could go on, but it doesn't matter since no one cares. I agree with most of your thoughts, except the reason the Kings are playing this season. Season ticket packages had already been sold for 6 games. Instead of asking for money back and changing the ticket package, or putting a credit on next years purchase they added another team to fill the sched. It'll be interesting to see if the Kings can give someone a good game, it really wasn't fair to have this be the Swashbucklers 1st game.

Conquerors Offer Fans Refunds, Half-price Tickets
HOUMA, La. (April 28, 2009) -- The Houma Conquerors are offering fans a voucher that can be redeemed for either a full refund or half-price tickets from Sunday's home opener against the Austin Turfcats.
The team issued a press release on Tuesday stating that people that purchased tickets to Sunday's game but chose not to attend can redeem the tickets for either a full refund or for two half-price adult tickets for the future game of their choice. They must have their unused tickets to get a voucher.
With game ticket stud, people can also get a voucher for two half-price adult tickets for the future game of their choice.
"We are hoping that the fans will accept this as a token of our sincerest apologies and give the Conquerors another chance to entertain them at our next home game on June 6 (vs. Texas Pirates). Once again, we apologize for the delay and inconvenience caused at our home opener," Conquerors owner/coach Franklin Thomas said
Sunday's home opener at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center was delayed for more than two hours because of player safety concerns.

SIFL Tells Texas Teams to Monitor Swine Flu April 30, 2009 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL)
LAFAYETTE, La. (April 30, 2009) -- With concerns over the spread of the swine flu forcing the cancellation of all public school sporting events in Texas through May 11th, the Southern Indoor Football League is keeping a close eye on the situation. SIFL commissioner Dan J. Blum has instructed his two Texas teams to stay in contact with their local authorities and monitor developments, but continue normal day-to-day operations and game preparation.
The Texas Pirates' game with the Louisiana Swashbucklers is still scheduled for Saturday night in Houston while the Austin Turfcats are scheduled to host the Swashbucklers the following week Saturday (May 9).
``We're very aware of the situation and offer our best wishes to those affected,'' Blum said. ``I'm confident that the Turfcats and Pirates will do what is best. If there are any changes to our schedule, our fans will be updated as quickly as possible.''
There have been 16 confirmed cases of swine flu in Texas since the outbreak began earlier this month. On Wednesday, a two-year old Mexican boy who had been visiting Texas since April 4 became the first U.S. fatality linked to the disease.

I never got an e-mail from ya Cab.
Would have responded earlier, but there are matters like a day job and two hours of medical tests that got in the way.
As soon as we get the Houma-Austin stats redone off film, we'll post. OK?
