There's a lot of talk about 4 16-team Super Conferences (SEC, BIG 10, PAC 12, ACC) happening in the future of college football.
I do see some 16-team conferences happening, but doubt they'll get it down to only four of them (although it'd sure be nice). The Big East is near dead though and the Big 12 is crumbling and trying to fix it with adding weak teams, so it is possible.
Here's the current 2012 Alignment:

Alabama
Arkansas
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
