The Dayton Silverbacks, The Longest Running Professional Indoor Football Team in the Midwest, would like to address a rumor that has been floating around.
Recently, someone posted via social networking that The Dayton Silverbacks have left the CIFL (Continental Indoor Football League) and have signed with a new league. These rumors are false. The Silverbacks, as well as other teams in the league, are all going through contract negotiations at this time. Whereas the Silverbacks will always keep their doors open, currently there are no intentions of not being a continued member of the CIFL for the 2012 season.
Someone posted on the Dayton Silverbacks site that they had left the CIFL and would be playing for the Stadius Football Association. Again, these rumors are false and there has been no contract signed with this new league. Re-Negotiation of the Silverbacks contract with the CIFL is currently in discussion. The Dayton Silverbacks have maintained ties to the CIFL for the past 6 years and do not currently have intentions of going to a different league. The Silverbacks are proud to be part of the CIFL and have maintained a strong relationship with them over the past 6 years.
The Dayton Silverbacks appreciate your continued support and appreciate your time in putting these rumors to rest. The Silverbacks are still considered members of the CIFL and contracts for 2012 are in negotiations. The Dayton Silverbacks will still play their 2012 season at their new home, Hara Arena.
"Minor league pro football is a weird universe filled with bounced checks, unpaid bills, empty promises, out-right lies, empty arenas, endless women, endless booze, occasionally drugs, endless trips on rented buses to towns on the outskirts of the Big Time and, for one night a week, a football game." -- Bill Shea
