The arenafootball2 league (af2) announced today that WR/DB WILL PETTIS has been named the league’s top ironman of all-time, as selected by a group of af2 head coaches past and present, members of the media and fans throughout the country. Pettis, who earned back-to-back Ironman of the Year Awards (2007, 2008) at the Arena Football League level, provided a glimpse into his AFL future by being a major two-way player for the Pensacola Barracudas in his only af2 season of 2002. “Will is one of the better success stories in the history of our league,” said af2 President Jerry Kurz. “He spent one season in the af2, learned the game, excelled at the game and then moved up to the AFL. Will is a true ironman who became adept at all facets of the game – offense, defense and even kick returns. His overall excellence made him one of the game’s premier players.
