Drillers to hold Web-A-Thon
(EKDrillers.com) Over the past few months we hope you had a chance to get to know the East Kentucky Driller’s and benefit from the community service efforts the organization has been involved with.
As your local arena football team they have gone to several elementary schools, including; ALLEN ELEMENTRY, ADAMS MIDDLE SCHOOL, HINDMAN ELEMENTRY, BELFRY ELEMENTRY/MIDDLE SCHOOL, BETSY LAYNE MIDDLE SCHOOL, PRESTONSBURG ELEMENTY, WESLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, ALLEN CENTRAL and MAYVALLEY. The players and coaches went with a goal to mentor their community’s youth on the importance of academics, drug abuse, attendance in school and the overall importance of respect. At the end of each school appearance the players would sign autographs, take pictures and hand out free tickets to every student in attendance. After the school wide assemblies the players would go in to individual classrooms to read, assist, and talk with the students on a more one on one basis.
Other contributions that the East Kentucky Drillers organization has been involved with include; spending a day at Riverview Nursing Home where they all had lunch and even sang to the residents, they participated in an Autism walk, Jenny Wiley State Park clean-up project, handed out supplies for three days to the victims of the recent Kentucky tornados and also took time and initiative to show up at youth birthday parties as surprise guest. To top off everything that the Driller organization has done, the Las Vegas native and now Kentucky Colonel Rick Kranz went above and beyond by opening up an arcade/ snack stop called the Driller’s Den. The Drillers den is a smoke and alcohol free business that is solely targeted to offer a safe place for our youth to go and socialize while enjoying the company of Drillers players.
Heading in to the home stretch of the season, the Drillers are ranked number two in the south division of the Ultimate Indoor Football League. Due to some very uncontrollable and undeserving turn of events, the East Kentucky Drillers organization is in need of some deserving help from its fans and community. The whole organization is headed in to the playoffs with a great seed and chance of winning the whole league, but with little money to cover many expenses, the season may be cut shorter than desired. Make no mistake time is of the essence or the ability to play in the championship game may be jeopardized!
We are requesting any donations to the organization to cover the cost to finish the season (referees insurance, travel expenses, footballs, entertainment during the game, etc.) We are asking that all of “DRILLER NATION” rallies behind this team and organization in their time of need. If you can donate as little as $2.00 or greater we can and WILL be successful to finish off this amazing season! The teams aspirations are to raise $5,000 by Monday, June 4, 2012!!
Let’s all bring this community together and show the world “Driller Nation” is not just a fan base… BUT A FAMILY!!
Donations can be made by phone at: Office #: 606-509-7277 or 606-886-7277
Donations can also be delivered to The Drillers Den located at 487 N. Lake Drive Suite 101 in the heart of Prestonsburg, Kentucky!!
