The AIF turned out to be the second worst season in indoor football history (behind only the 2007 NIFL season). Below is the status of teams for 2013.
Number of teams competing in 2013
__6
Returning (3)
__Cape Fear (Fayetteville, North Carolina) Heroes __Harrisburg (Pennsylvania) Stampede __West Virginia (Ranson) Badgers {relocated Virginia (Richmond) Badgers}
Gains (+3)
__Expansion ____Roc City (Rochester, New York) Thunder ____Washington (Laurel, Maryland) Eagles ____York (Pennsylvania) Capitals
Losses (-9)
__Folded ____Arizona (Prescott Valley) Outlaws ____California (Stockton) Eagles ____Carolina (Concord, North Carolina) Force ____Macon (Georgia) Steel ____Maryland (Frederick) Reapers ____Nevada (Las Vegas) Lynx ____North Alameda (California) Knights ____Ontario (California) Warriors ____Tri-State (Baltimore, Maryland) Redhawks
---------------------------------------------------------

I have no idea right now how many teams will be returning. The first post of this thread is a living document and will updated as info comes available.
Many teams folded and many teams became travel-only teams when they lost their arenas (Carolina and Maryland), but the AIF may try to prop them up somewhere else. Macon didn't even play their last game and could be dead, but that is unknown right now. Tons of unknowns in this league as they are big on taking semi-pro teams and masquerading them as pro teams.
Definitely more to come on this throughout the off-season.

To my knowledge, the Virginia Badgers are still in operation.

Ranson has 4000 people or so, the county 55K...it's probably pushing it, but I guess if the rent's cheap you can put an AIF semipro team and survive a few weeks until the season ends.

I think the league will be more stable than last year...well at least more stable without an AIF West
