2012 IFL Team Awards Announced
Richmond, VA: On the cusp of the start of the 2012 Indoor Football League playoffs, the IFL is proud to announce the winners of the 2012 IFL Year-End Awards for outstanding achievements throughout the 2012 season.
Franchise of the Year: Tri-Cities Fever
The Tri-Cities Fever earned the Franchise of the Year Award by being determined by their peers to be the overall best team this season.
On the field, the Tri-Cities Fever set franchise records this season as they finished the season with a 12-2 record while clinching the top seed in the Intense Conference. Additionally, the Fever also ranked among the best in the IFL in ticket sales and attendance. Off the field, the Fever excelled in public relations, marketing and community relations programs. The categories considered for achieving this award consisted of attendance, sales, public relations, marketing, and performance on the field, community involvement, and best representation of the IFL.
‘This award is an amazing honor because it includes everyone and every part of the organization that I am so proud of,” stated Tri-Cities Owner/General Manager Teri Carr.
Executive of the Year: Arney Silvestri, Chicago Slaughter
The Chicago Slaughter’s Arney Silvestri has been named 2012 IFL Executive of the Year. He was voted Executive of the Year by his peers based on his leadership, management and guidance he provides the Slaughter as well as the IFL.
Silvestri has played an integral role in continuing to build the Slaughter brand and define Chicago’s unique game-day experience as one of the best in the IFL. Silvestri has had an extremely influential voice in the Indoor Football League this season and he will continue to the play an integral role in the IFL’s future growth.
Best Fan Base: Nebraska Danger
This award was based on the Danger’s fan-base proving to be the most enthusiastic, having the most character and energy, and providing the most overall appreciation for their team. Nebraska is also the league leader in attendance for the second year in a row, averaging over 5,000 enthusiastic fans per game!
Best Game Operations: Green Bay Blizzard
The Best Game Operations was awarded to Green Bay with the basis of the Blizzard providing the best game presentation. This included half-time shows, giveaways, music, public address announcer, and on-field promotions.
Best Team Mascot: Omaha Beef
The Best Mascot of the 2012 season goes to Sir-Loin of the Omaha Beef. Sir-Loin is a prime cut steak that represents the Omaha Beef, Sir-Loin gains his recognition for fan interaction as well as creativity of costume and title. Sir-Loin was voted the Best Mascot based on fan interaction and quality of the costume.
Best Cheerleader/Dance Team: Omaha Beef
The Omaha Beef’s dance team earned the Best Dance Team Award based on providing the most talented and most attractive dance team. Uniforms, class, routines, and crowd interaction were also factors in deciding the award.
Best Team Website: Bloomington Edge
The Bloomington Edge have won the Best Team Website Award for the third year in a row based on premise of continuing to have the best looking, most easily manageable, and best content provided by their website
Best Media Relations: Lehigh Valley Steelhawks
The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks have been awarded the Best Media Relations Award for the second year in a row. The Steelhawks earned this award by garnering media involvement, writing press releases, hosting press conferences, and gaining significant coverage of their team for the 2012 season.
Community Relations Award: Lehigh Valley Steelhawks
The Community Relations Award is presented to the team that best exemplifies outstanding service and dedication to their community. The Steelhawks received this award based on their contributions to the Lehigh Valley community including volunteer efforts, Junior Camp efforts, community promotions, and outreach in their surrounding area
