LOS ANGELES AT DENVER DENVER -6.5 OVER/UNDER 33.5
DO YOU WANT TO SEE SOME OF THE BEST PURE ATHLETES AND TOUGH HITTERS IN THE LFL, THEN THIS IS YOUR GAME. LOS ANGELES WHO RANKED NO. 1 EARLY IN THE PRE-SEASON WAS FALLEN ON TOUGH TIMES TRYING TO DEVELOP AN IDENTITY AND TEAM CHEMISTRY. ALTHOUGH LA IS STACKED WITH TALENT AND LED BY LFL VETERAN 3-TIME LINGERIE BOWL WINNING HEAD COACH DAVID BIZUB.
LOS ANGELES KNOWN SIMPLY AS THE 'TEMPTS' WILL BRING A DEFINITE SWAGGER WITH THEM AS THEY ARRIVE AT DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ON FRIDAY MORNING HAVING WON 3 LINGERIE BOWLS AND BOASTING AN OFFENSE THAT CAN RUN OR PASS AT WILL. LED BY THE STRONG-ARMED QUARTERBACK #9 JOEY DAVENPORT, LA WILL LOOK TO CONTROL THE CLOCK WITH A DINK-DUNK WEST COAST OFFENSE FEATURING QUICK SCREEN PASSES AND A CONSISTENT RUNNING GAME. DAVENPORT'S FAVORITE TARGET WILL BE ONE OF THE LFL'S MOST DANGEROUS OFFENSIVE WEAPONS AND ALL-FANTASY WIDE RECEIVER #6 BRITTANIE DE GARBOTT. DEFENSIVELY, LOS ANGELES COULD STRUGGLE THIS SEASON WITH THEIR STAR ALL-FANTASY TEAM LINEBACKER #13 MONIQUE GAXIOLA SUFFERING A SEASON-ENDING ACL TEAR IN THE PRE-SEASON.
DENVER WILL OPEN THEIR INAUGURAL SEASON WITH HIGH HOPES BEING A PRE-SEASON FAVORITE TO BATTLE IT OUT WITH THE DALLAS DESIRE FOR THE WESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP. REGARDED AS ONE OF THE MOST COMPLETE TEAMS IN THE LFL, DENVER CAN BEAT YOU WITH ALL THREE PHASES OF THE GAME. THE TEAM IS ANCHORED BY INCREDIBLE LEADERSHIP FROM HEAD COACH ALLEN WATKINS AND DEFENSIVE COACH AND FORMER DENVER BRONCOS GREAT MARK JACKSON. OFFENSIVELY LOOK FOR A CONTROLLED RUNNING ATTACK LED BY ONE OF THE BEST DUO OF RUNNING BACKS IN THE LEAGUE WITH #1 HEATHER MAE FRENCH AND #12 SHANNON MARTIN. FRENCH WILL BEAT YOU WITH SPEED WHILE MARTIN HAS INCREDIBLE INSTINCT AND AGGRESSION AT THE POINT OF ATTACK. DENVER IS ONE OF FEW TEAMS WITH TWO QUARTERBACKS THAT CAN START FOR ANY OTHER TEAM IN THE LFL, #4 ERIKA TRUJILLO AND #5 REBECCA 'BK' MAIN. COACH WATKINS HAS YET TO NAME A STARTER AT QUARTERBACK FOR OPENING NIGHT. TRUJILLO IS A YOUNG STRONG ARMED QUARTERBACK WHO HAS TROUBLE AT TIME WITH ACCURACY AND MECHANICS WHILE MAIN IS A STEADY VETERAN QUARTERBACK THAT CAN MANAGE THE GAME. ON DEFENSE DENVER HAS PURE ATHLETES AT ALL SEVEN POSITIONS WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY POSE PROBLEM FOR A GOOD LOS ANGELES OFFENSE.

LFL Week 3 Gameday Matchup Los Angeles Temptation @ Denver Dream September 17th, 2009 DENVER DREAM
MUCH LIKE THE OLD MIKE SHANAHAN LED DENVER BRONCOS, THIS TEAM FEATURES THE BEST COMBINATION OF RUNNING BACKS IN TH LEAGUE KNOWN IN DENVER AS THE ‘MILE HIGH DUO’, #12 SHANNON MARTIN AND #1 HEATHER MAE FRENCH. THIS TEAM WILL POSE A CHALLENGE WITH AN OFFENSE THAT CAN EASILY GRIND OUT YARDAGE ON THE GROUND WHILE SETTING UP THE BIG PLAY WITH THE WICHITA CHITA, ##2 JENNY YUKICH-GARDENHIRE, SIMPLY ONE OF THE MOST DRIVEN AND TALENTED PLAYERS IN THE LEAGUE.
DENVER’S GRIND IT OUT OFFENSE WILL BE COMPLIMENTED WELL BY A TOUGH DEFENSE THAT IS SMASH-MOUTH WITH A LOT OF ATTITUDE, LED BY POTENTIAL ALL-STAR CORNERBACK #19 JECOLE ‘COCO’ HOCKADAY. STOPPING THE RUN COULD BE THE ACHILLES HEEL FOR THIS TEAM.
IT’S TRULY ABOUT ALL THREE PHASES OF FOOTBALL WITH THIS TEAM. THE DREAM SPECIAL TEAMS UNIT HAS THE WICHITA CHITA JENNY YUKICH-GARDENHIRE ALSO BOOMING KICKS 40-50 YARDS. DID WE MENTION THEIR EXPERTISE IN THE ON-SIDE KICK?
EACH LFL TEAM IS ONLY AS STRONG OR EFFECTIVE AS ITS COACHING. HEAD COACH ALLEN WATKINS IS CONSIDERED THE MOST DETAILED ORIENTED COACH IN THE LEAGUE PUTTING COUNTLESS HOURS INTO PREPARATION.
THE DREAM WILL ALSO BENEFIT FROM THE LEAGUE’S LARGEST STADIUM THAT IS ONE-MILE ABOVE SEA LEVEL, MAKING BREATHING DIFFICULT FOR VISITING TEAMS. CONDITIONING IN HIGH ALTITUDE WILL BE A MUST FOR OPPONENTS PRIOR TO TRAVELING TO PLAY DENVER.

LOS ANGELES TEMPTATION
ONCE A HEAVY PRE-SEASON FAVORITE TO ROLL THROUGH THE WESTERN CONFERENCE AND MAKE ANOTHER APPEARANCE AT LINGERIE BOWL. THIS TEAM HAS HIT SEVERAL OFF-SEASON BUMPS WITH A PLAYER CAROUSEL OF NEW FACES AND AN UNCHARACTERISTIC LACK OF DISCIPLINE APPROACH BY VETERAN LFL COACH DAVID BIZUB.
THE GOOD NEWS, THIS TEAM IS STILL DEEP IN TALENT WITH STANDOUTS SUCH AS QUARTERBACK #9 JOEY DAVENPORT, UNQUESTIONABLY THE STRONGEST ARM IN THE LEAGUE. LOS ANGELES’ OFFENSE WILL FEATURE A LOT OF MIS-DIRECTION WITH A FAST GROUND GAME COMPLIMENTED WITH A DINK-DUNK WEST COAST OFFENSE. SEVERAL TALENTED IRON-WOMEN WILL PLAY BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL AND FEATURED EXTENSIVELY ON OFFENSE WILL BE ONE OF THE LEAGUE’S MOST SOLID ALL-AROUND WIDE RECEIVERS AND ALL-FANTASY TEAM MEMBER #6 BRITTANIE DE GARBOTT. GARBOTT IS THE MOST DANGEROUS WEAPON ON THIS TEAM AND WILL BE UTILIZED AT BOTH WIDE RECEIVER AND RUNNING BACK. A COUPLE OF OTHER KEY CONTRIBUTORS WILL BE SURPRISE STAND-OUT WIDE RECEIVER #8 RILEY MADDEX WHO HAS HAD ARGUABLY THE MOST DEVELOPMENT OF ANY PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE IN THE OFF-SEASON.
DEFENSIVELY, THIS TEAM COULD BE EXPOSED OVER-THE-TOP WITH A WEAK SECONDARY. TEAMS WILL STRUGGLE TO RUN AGAINST LOS ANGELES’ DEFENSE ANCHORED BY ONE OF THE BEST DUO OF LINEBACKERS IN THE LEAGUE LED BY ALL-FANTASY TEAM MEMBER #13 MONIQUE GAXIOLA AND #14 MICHELLE JACOT. IF THIS DEFENSE DEVELOPS OVER THE COURSE OF THE SEASON, LOS ANGELES COULD EASILY CHALLENGE DENVER AND DALLAS FOR THE BEST IN THE WEST.

Unlike the first two games, this game is outdoors. They marked the indoor dimensions on the outdoor grass. There won't be any hitting against the walls this time though.

Kickoff returned by Denver to 10. Denver 1st and 10. No running backs in backfield. Pass deep open, but receiver dropped it (to be fair she dived for it). 2nd and 10. Handoff to receiver to the left side all the way to LA 23 yard line.
1st and 10. Double reverse, good block, tackler tried to de-panty runner, all the way to the 7. 2nd down. Handoff to Martin ran all the way to the left for a TD. 2pt conv is snap to QB in shotgun who attempts to run it in from the left side after catching it at the 10, only gets to the 5, no good.
Denver Dream 6, Los Angeles Temptation 0, 11:19 in 1st Qtr.

LA 1st and 10 at own 15. Joey Davenport pass for 14 yards for a 1st down. 1st and 10. Run to the right down to the 7. 1st and goal. Pitch to right side dropped, she took her eyes off the ball. 2nd and goal. Run to the left looking to go in by QB Joey Davenport, but tackled high at the 2 yard line (a crowd pleasing clothesline). Best hit of all three games so far. 3rd and goal. Run to the left stopped at 1 again. 4th and goal. Davenport keeps it for the third time, this time to the right and no one was there and she trots in for the score. 8:06 mark in the game. Penalty flag thrown. Whoa. An unknown rule rears it's head...at least one I haven't seen yet. One pass must be thrown during a set of 4 downs, which means if the first three plays in the set of downs were runs, the fourth down play MUST be a pass. Kind of a strange rule, but I like it, forces them to pass instead of running all the time. Pass by Davenport caught at 2 yard line, but tackled as soon as she caught it. Turnover on downs by LA.
Denver ball at own 2. 1st and 10. Pass complete (great catch, jumped up high to get it) at the 17. 1st and 10. Pass complete again, another great catch, to the 23 of LA, receiver clotheslined...lol. 1st and 10. Pass complete once again, wow, good for 8 yards. 2nd and 2. Run goes nowhere, for a loss actually, was slow moving, fooled no one. 3rd and 6. Pass into a field complete again, this girl can throw, taken all the way down to the 6.

Time out on the field (media) called.
1st and goal for Denver on the 6. QB keeper by Trujilo (sp?) to 5 yard line. 2nd and goal. Handoff for a loss, penatration by LA got to runner right after handoff, loss to the 11 yard line. 3rd and goal. Pass to endzone deflected and Rebecca May (sp?) for Denver hauls it in for a TD...great catch by the girl. 1 pt conv run to the left falls short at the 1, no good.
Denver Dream 12, Los Angeles Temptation 0, 2:33 left in half.

1st and 10 LA at own 15. Davenport passes to right, caught, gain to 23 of Denver. 1st and 10. Davenport QB keeper to left good to 15 yard line. 2nd and 2. 1:58 left (2 min warning rules in effect). Davenport passes incomplete down the field. 3rd and 2. Davenport rushes (good block...woo), freed her to the Denver 2 yard line. 1st and goal. Time out LA. LA Coach says to girls "OK, we gotta win this f###ing game, understand?"...lol. Davenport tackled high at the 2 yard line. A lot of high tackling going on, didn't see that in the first two games. Davenport elbowed tackler as she got up, very chippy out there, I can a see a fight erupting...lol. 2nd and goal. Davenport rolls to the right, threw a pass into the end zone right to a defender, but she dropped it. 3rd and goal. Davenport keeper to the right, held up by defender, then pushed by members of her own team into the end zone for a TD. 2pt conv attempt, pass to left and there's no one there...receiver must've forgot where to go...lol.
Denver Dream 12, Los Angeles Temptation 6, 1:22 left in half.

Denver 1st and 10 at 15. 3 WR's to the right. Pass over the middle incomplete. 2nd and 10. Handoff looked like it might go nowhere, but she gets to sideline and takes it all the way to the LA 24. 1st and 10. Huddle by Denver took 20 seconds off the clock...ouch. Pass downfield incomplete. 2nd and 10. 25 ticks left in half. Pass back, the running back throws it downfield to LA 12. 1st and 10. Give to the left (RB Shannon Martin) goes all the way for Touch Down. LA wasn't expecting that and lone tackler that could've got to runner missed. 2pt conv pass to Lindsay Field good.

One announcer for this game, the same play by play guy that did the first two games. Sean Salisbury did color for the first game, some other guy did the second, and for the third the one guy is doing it all.
