Bandits sign veterans; announce opener

The Sioux City Bandits have signed six veteran players that will form the nucleus of the 2011 team.
SIOUX CITY -- The Sioux City Bandits of the APFL have signed six veteran players that will form the nucleus of the 2011 team.
Nick Bull (OL-6'2 290 lbs) Bull returns to the Bandits after playing in 2007 & 2009 as the Bandits starting center. Nick played his college football at Washburn University in Kansas.
Alex Ardley (DB-5'10 180 lbs) Ardley returns for his seventh season with the Bandits, having played in the 2004 & 2005 and 2007 thru 2010 seasons. Ardley ranks among the career leaders in interceptions and tackles, with 280 tackles in 66 games and 15 interceptions. Alex played his college football at Clemson University and went to camp with the Tampa Bay Bucs in the NFL.
Buddy Williams (DB-5'10 190 lbs) Buddy has played for the Bandits in the 2005 and 2009 seasons. He has also played for the IFL's Sioux Falls Storm and Omaha Beef. In 2009 he played in 13 games ranked third on the team with 71 total tackles including 41 solos. In 2005 Williams played in 11 games ranking third on the team with 79 total tackles.
Damon Mothershead (WR-6'0 190 lbs) Damon returns for his fifth season with the Bandits, having played for the previous four seasons. In 2010 he had 32 catches for 388 yards with 7 TD's. In 2009 Damon had 33 receptions for 368 yards and 9 TD's. For his Bandit career he has played in 38 games with 87 catches for 994 yards and 21 TD's. He attended Morningside College.
Spetlar Tonga (LB-6'0 235 lbs) Tonga will playing his seventh season for the Bandits having played previously form 2004 to 2008 and last year. In 2010 Spetlar had one of his best seasons in a Bandits uniform. He played in all 14 games and led the team with 101 total tackles including 65 solos, he also had 15.5 TFL for 49 yards and 1 sack and 1 interception along with 4 fumble recoveries. For his Bandit career he has 466 total tackles with 266 solos and 59.5 TFL. Tonga also went to Morningside College and is a current Coach at Briar Cliff College.
Scott Jensen (QB-6'0 190 lbs) Jensen returns for his third season with the Bandits having played the previous two years. Jensen came to the Bandits in a 2009 from the Billings Outlaws. In 13 games in the 2010 season Jensen rushed for 227 yards and 1 TD while passing for 1,139 yards and 23 TD's. In 209 he rushed for 459 yards and 6 TD's and passed for 1,279 yards with 25 TD's. Scott is a native of California and now makes his home in Sioux City.
The Bandits open their 11th indoor season on March 25 at home against the defending APFL Champion-Iowa Blackhawks.
