SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Sioux City steamrolled Springfield 84-18 on Saturday night in the Bandits' first road game of the season.
The defending APFL champion Bandits (2-0) scored the final 52 points of the game and held the WolfPack (0-2) scoreless in the second half at Springfield's Mediacom Ice Park.
Springfield pulled to within 32-18 midway through the second quarter, but fell apart after halftime. The final outcome looked similar to the 84-6 spanking the Bandits handed the WolfPack last season at Tyson Events Center.
Game statistics reportedly were not compiled or made available.
Sioux City has next week off before hosting the Colorado Lightning on April 14. The Lightning, a franchise out of Aurora, Co., is one of three new clubs in the newly expanded APFL.
Elsewhere in APFL action, the Oklahoma Defenders defeated the Council Bluff Express, 42-28. Last year's APFL runner-up, the Express (formerly the Iowa Blackhawks) were considered to be the biggest threat to the Bandits' repeat title chances.
Sioux City already routed Oklahoma 70-40 last week in the season opener for both squads.

Cheyenne put up a fight against Kansas but couldn't convert chances in its inaugural game.

CHEYENNE -- The Cheyenne Warriors lost their first game of the season. But you'd have been hard-pressed to find a player on the home team without a smile on his face.
The Warriors trailed by double-digits late in the game but rallied and had a chance to win late. In the end it wasn't meant to be as the Kansas Koyotes came away with a 34-27 win Saturday night.
"It's just mental mistakes, which happens in football," Cheyenne cornerback Stanley Gallway said. "We've just got to get sharper. We'll get better, we'll work hard. I know these guys, I've been playing with them.
"We're going to use this as motivation just to make us better."
Playing in front of a capacity crowd at the Cheyenne Ice and Events Center in the franchise's inaugural game, the Warriors (0-1) went back and forth with the Koyotes (1-0) all game.
Cheyenne scored its first touchdown following an interception by Gallway which set the team up at the three-yard line.
Travis Oringdulph cashed in on the next play for the team's first touchdown to make it a 7-6 game.
Cheyenne forced three interceptions in the first half, two by Gallway but fell behind 20-13 at the break.
The Warriors tied the game during the first drive of the second half as Dallas Huber hauled in a four-yard pass and Kraig Tafoya's point after try tied the game 20-20.
The Koyotes responded with a pair of scores while Cheyenne got inside the five-yard line twice but came up empty.
"The discouraging thing is we were inside the five four times and didn't score," Cheyenne coach Marty Gocken said. "The encouraging thing is we did get to that point. Everything we did tonight is very fixable."
With just over 11 minutes remaining, Kansas went up by 14 at 34-20 and appeared to be pulling away.
Lemans Casimier refused to let his team go quietly as the wide receiver took a kickoff in his own end zone and raced 50 yards for a touchdown to make it one-possession game once again. Along with his 50-yard kick return, Casimier hauled in two passes for a game-high 66 yards.
"It was an opportunity to get us back into the ballgame," Casimier said. "Being a captain of the team, it was the answer the team was looking for."
Casimier was far from done as he came up with an interception on the ensuing Koyotes' possession to give Cheyenne one more chance to tie the game.
The Warriors got inside the five but four straight incompletions ended the chance of a comeback.
With three-straight weeks on the road to look forward to, Cheyenne is hoping Saturday's opener was the start of something big.
If nothing else, the team has learned exactly what it takes to win in this league.
"Week 1 to Week 2 is when you show your most improvement. It's one game out of 14," Gocken said. "I think they gauged where they're at. I'm optimistic about where we're at because we're going to improve."

Tulsa, OK The Oklahoma Defenders (OKD) hosted their first home game Saturday, March 31 at the Pavilion at Expo Square.
The Defenders puffed past the Council Bluffs Express 56-41 in front of a crowd of approximately 1,500 cheering fans. The event included hard-hitting, fast-paced indoor football, with a more traditional look and feel that fans could appreciate. Breaks in the game action were entertaining as well with activities including a Pizza Depot Pizza Box Race, Hahn Appliance Future Defender Race, and Powerhouse Cheer 'n Stunts to name a few. The Defenders introduced their mascot, "Billie the Regulator", who provided additional entertainment all the way to the final buzzer that marked the official first win for the Oklahoma Defenders. Tulsa fans remained true to their legacy as they showed up "loud and proud" and cheered on their Defenders.
The Defenders attacked early with a 28-yard touchdown toss from quarterback Rico Watkins to wide receiver Carlos Velasquez on their opening drive Defenders quarterback Rico Watkins threw for a total of 175 yards with 5 touchdown tosses, one touchdown run, with no interceptions. Wide receiver Cameron Clemons added a pair of touchdown catches to the balanced offensive attack. The OKD defense held the Express to 41 points with Christian Torres' 4.5 tackles, 2 pass-breakups, and one interception. Bobby Blackshire added 3.5 tackles and two pass breakups and Jeremy Nethon pitched in 4.5 tackles.
A special pre-game presentation was held for Team Captain Antwan Floyd and his family. Floyd's younger brother Issac Floyd passed away tragically in a car accident in December 2011. Antwan is wearing the #25 this season in memory of his younger brother who wore this number in high school as a standout player in both football and basketball. In a magical fourth quarter play, Floyd scored on a two-yard touchdown run and presented the ball to his family who made the 17-hour drive from Williston, Florida to see the game.
