Sioux City Oklahoma Mid Missouri Colorado
I picked Colorado because Cheyenne will announce tomorrow that the already canceled game is being canceled, then Thursday say that they planned to play it all along, blaming the league in the process and declare themselves the winners by forfeit. Then they will say on Friday that they decided to cancel the game again and are looking to join the NFL.

I haven't seen a press release anywhere yet, but it was mentioned on facebook.
Council Bluffs Express picked up QB James McNear, WR Allen Burrell, and WR Mike Jones from the Omaha Beef (their season ended) this past weekend. They also picked up a few other players.
It will be interesting to see if those players can make an immediate impact in less than a week of working with a new team or not. If the CB line can protect McNear, then they got a shot to pull off an upset against Oklahoma at home this weekend. I think CB needs to win by 16 points to pass Okie in the battle for the #2 seed though since Okie beat them by 15pts in their previous game. That's a lot of pressure, can they do it?

It would be interesing to find outhow much practice time the Express have with the new players. That could be the difference between success and failure.

Express tap Beef roster as playoffs near by Tony Boone With a postseason bid already locked up, Council Bluffs is Beefing up for the playoffs. The Express (7-3) signed four players from the Omaha Beef roster this week as the team prepares for the stretch run of the American Professional Football League regular season. Quarterback James McNear, defensive back Diezeas Calbert, and receivers Allen Burrell and Mike Jones will suit up Saturday when C.B. faces Oklahoma at 7:05 p.m. at the Mid-America Center. The quartet recently finished a 6-8 season with the neighboring Beef of the Indoor Football League. McNear, who accounted for 51 regular-season touchdowns for Omaha in 2011, is expected to start under center. He will be the fourth different quarterback to play for the Express this summer. C.B. co-owner Brad Lindgren said the signings affected no current Express regulars. The other top teams in the APFL, he explained, have also been upgrading their rosters in recent weeks. “No one lost a roster spot over this deal,” he said. “Everybody took advantage of the situation and made their teams better. We just felt we needed to upgrade a couple of different spots.” Saturday’s game will be a preview of the upcoming APFL semifinals. The Express and league newcomer Oklahoma (8-2) have locked up the second and third seeds behind defending champion Sioux City. The two teams will meet again on the opening weekend of July, but the site of that game will depend on Saturday’s outcome. The Defenders beat C.B. 56-41 earlier this season. The Express needs to win by 16 points or more Saturday to earn a tie-breaker over its opponent and a home game in the playoffs. Council Bluffs has gone through drastic changes since meeting Oklahoma in its season opener in Tulsa, Okla., on March 31. At that point, Chuck Wright was the head coach of the Express and Chad Schmigel was the team’s starting quarterback. Neither is with the squad now. The fate of C.B. in its first year under co-owners Justin Hayes and Lindgren rests with new head coach Dave Brumagen, McNear and its retooled roster. Lindgren said he’s proud of the way his team has persevered through a strange season of transition with many disruptions. “To see where we’re at right now, it’s unbelievable with all of the changes,” he said. “We have been through a lot of adversity. ... Our team unity is unreal. Our guys, no matter what, have stuck together.” APFL Standings Team Record Sioux City 11-0 Oklahoma 8-2 Council Bluffs 7-3 Kansas 6-4 Mid-Missouri 6-4 Springfield 2-9 Colorado 1-9 Cheyenne 0-11

siouxcityjournal.com/sports/football/amateur/tonga-may-play-tonight-for-bandits/article_94eb35e7-69e0-55dc-94c3-8466b15ba6b5.htmlTonga may play tonight for Banditsby Jerry Giese Face it, if Spetlar Tonga couldn’t go 100 percent, he wouldn’t perform at all. Tonga, the Sioux City Bandits’ career leader with 603 tackles, practiced Wednesday in preparation for playing time in tonight’s regular-season finale. The defending American Professional Football League champions will take an 11-0 record into a 7:05 contest at the Tyson Events Center against the Kansas Koyotes (6-4). A linebacker whose career with the Bandits started in 2004, Tonga has missed the last seven games. He suffered a minor tear in the meniscus of his right knee in the first quarter of a 70-30 win over Colorado on April 14. “My knee felt pretty good,” said the 32-year old Tonga. “I told the coaches, when they want to put me in, I’ll be ready. I’ll leave it up to them. If anything, I’ll go out and play special teams until my number gets called.” “Talking to him, he said if he didn’t feel healthy enough to play, he wasn’t going to try it,” said Strohbeen. “That leads me to believe we have a healthy guy out there. We’ll have to sit and talk with Spetlar to see what he expects to play.” Rookie linebacker Marlon Lobban has performed admirably in Tonga’s absence. The 6-3, 245-pounder from the University of Sioux Falls ranks second on the club with 47 tackles. Lobban’s season has also been highlighted by a touchdown on a 39-yard interception return in the fourth quarter of a 41-29 win over Council Bluffs on June 8. “Marlon has stepped well in the position when Spetlar has been out,” said Strohbeen. “Towards the end of that game, we put pressure on the quarterback with (Jason) Bonwell, Big Daddy (Anthony Thomas) and (Fred) Mitchell all bearing down. The ball floated in the air and Marlon made the play. That’s all we can ask for, the defense stepping up when they’re asked to get it done.” Strohbeen credited Tonga for offering tips that made Lobban a better linebacker. “He understands I’m not the type of player who’s not going to hold stuff against him,” said Tonga. “He wants to learn. He wants to get better, which is great about a rookie.” If the Bandits are to win their 26th consecutive game, defense will be a key. Koyote running back Larry Albert rushed 28 times for 114 yards in last Saturday’s 30-27 loss to Council Bluffs. Albert had 97 yards the week before in a 33-28 loss to Mid-Missouri. He also had 100 yards in a 49-41 win over Cheyenne on May 5. “Those are numbers back to the days when Fred Jackson played for the Bandits,” said Strohbeen. “Our defense is all about gap control where the linebackers fill the gaps and make the plays. When teams run on us, defensive backs have to step up as tacklers. “When you think about a player like Alex Ardley, you think of him as a cover corner, but he’s up there as the guy hitting the ball carrier. Taylor Schumacher is same way, coming up there on run support. All credit to them.” Schumacher leads the Bandits with 56 tackles from his strong safety position. Free safety Jonathon Smith has 26 tackles while cornerbacks Alex Ardley and Rahn Franklin each have 17. Franklin also has nine interceptions, highlighted by a 40-yarder with 2:13 left in the game that sealed the win over Council Bluffs.
