FLORIDA DIVISION ANNOUNCED
March 15, 2013
Tampa, FL –
First of all we would like to thank everyone who came out for our press conference this morning. We must offer an apology for the delay and the circumstances. Our official who was scheduled to make our major announcement today has come down with the flu and was not able to attend today. So rather than have someone unprepared to make the announcement, we have chosen to use a printed press release and again we apologize to everyone who showed up and we thank you for coming out.
The WIFL will have a Florida division of franchises. This is our first division and we will have several others coming in the next several months. Our Florida division will consist of Tampa, Sarasota, Lakeland, Orlando and Miami. Teams will immediately begin hiring staff so they can get out in the community and begin what we hope will be a long, friendly relationship.
The WIFL will be seeking ownership groups that want to purchase these franchises. These locations were chosen because they have viable facilities to host a team and games within the division will be day trips and keep travel expenses lower for the franchise owners. It also creates an immediate rivalry between the teams and we expect to see some serious, hard hitting action when we take the field in March of next year.
Our fans have chosen several names for our franchises and we are going to continue that trend. Next week each franchise will have 5 names for fans to vote on for the name of each franchise. Some of those names will include some of those already chosen by our fans. The WIFL strongly believes in its fan base and everything we do will be fan interactive.
We have several announcements coming up next week and the league continues to move forward. We hope to announce our new league President on Monday or Tuesday, fan voting for the names of the Florida franchises will being on one of those days as well, and on Wednesday we will be introducing our interim Commissioner.
We will be having our Florida tryout on May 4th in Lakeland and as this will be our only Florida tryout, all female athletes in the state are encouraged to attend the tryout as these roster spots will be offered first to anyone attending the tryout. Pre registration can be done on www.wiflfootball.com and anyone needing overnight accommodations will be set up with a discount at any area Wyndham hotel.
At this tryout we will also be doing video and photographs for future promotions and this will be handled by Stephenie Pashkowsky, who owns Photography By Stephenie. Fans can see her work on her Facebook page at www.facebook.com/photographybystephenie.
Also don’t forget that a portion of the registration fees for the Lakeland tryout will be donated to the Florida SPCA.

CHANGES IN THE WIFL
March 11
Today, Ray Blanchette, President & CEO of Blanchette Sports Holdings and founder of the WIFL announced several structural changes and personnel additions to his corporate enterprise. In his written statement, Mr. Blanchette advised the following:
“The WIFL is continuing to evolve at a rapid pace. Presently, we are at a major crossroad in the formation of the WIFL, and after thoughtful reflection and consideration, resolved that some important business decisions needed to be made. These changes will increase organizational efficiency, productivity, and leverage our existing resources, which translates into increased opportunities for WIFL expansion. All of these changes involve ways to tap into and increase our two greatest resources: Our fan base & professional athletes. By doing so, this commitment shows we stand alone as the only source of a legitimate professional football opportunity for women, but also provides yet another sports venue for our pre-existing fan base, consisting of both men and women alike who truly enjoy the game of football”.
Most of the changes made by Mr. Blanchette are targeted towards increasing the fan base and athletic opportunities to play professional football, as well as encourage feedback from both fans and participating athletes. When contacted Mr. Blanchette said “This week fans and athletes will see the noticeable effects and tangible results of their active participation in our efforts. People become engaged and excited when they have opportunities for participation. Fans will have the opportunity to visit our Facebook page and vote for names of our new franchises. Fans have already voted to give us 20 solid franchise names and now we will wittle those down to name our new franchises, by letting the fans choose. They can visit our web site to register & tryout for an opportunity to play professional football. By the participation of both fans and athletes alike, as well as serving as a good role model within the community, this league is destined to be successful.”
Other changes mentioned by Mr. Blanchette included the addition of several professional resources to serve in business, financial, & corporate advisory capacities. Although several of these changes are forthcoming in the next few weeks, Mr. Blanchette specifically mentioned one consultant he has retained, and who is under an exclusive contract to provide business and financial advice and guidance necessary to make the WIFL blossom from a conceptual framework to a practical reality.
“I am pleased to announce the addition of Smith Consulting Group, LLC, and its principal, Troy M. Smith, Certified International Business Finance & Small Business Consultant, in an advisory and business consulting capacity. This contractual arrangement shows my dedication to bringing the best and brightest talent as a force multiplier, in advancing the WIFL. Troy and I have had an extensive dialogue over the past month, and he shares my vision to increase both the fan base as well as professional sports opportunities for the WIFL. Troy has at his avail a vast and diverse array of domestic and international financial resources, professional contacts, and in my view, provides one of the best opportunities for expansion of the WIFL”. As is customary in professional athletics, the terms of their contractual arrangement remained confidential, but both parties conceded it was an exclusive, non-competitive contractual arrangement.
Troy M. Smith, President and Chief Operating Officer of Smith Consulting Group, LLC, (www.smithconsultgrp.com), had this to say: “We are excited to be affiliated with the WIFL and Blanchette Sports Holdings, in a business advisory capacity, and look forward to the opportunities and challenges presented in both the short and long term. We see a vast potential for market penetration and expansion, as the WIFL begins to deploy the action plan and milestones recommended and necessary for league growth”.
Mr. Blanchette echoed this belief and said “Notwithstanding his refreshing view and enthusiasm for the WIFL, Troy leverages our potential for WIFL expansion as a vehicle and conduit in a multi-dimensional sense, providing the potential for owner, franchise, facility, and specialty financial markets required for necessary team financing, such as personal protective equipment or funding for facility financing. Troy has a diverse array of SBA 7a, 504, private equity, & specialty market financing at his avail. As we all know, operating a professional sports league requires sources of equity, financial resources, and cash flow. And further, owning a professional sports franchise is the dream of many people, though few ever get the opportunity. Through our exclusive contractual arrangement, which clearly demonstrates my personal commitment to making the WIFL a viable entity, I encourage any person, partnership, or corporate entity interested in owning and operating a professional sports franchise in the WIFL to contact Troy and make it happen.”
Also joining the WIFL is Luke Heckenberger as the league’s new Sales Director. Blanchette encouraged anyone wanting to take part in a sponsorship with the WIFL to contact Mr. Heckenberger to see how the WIFL can make your business grow. “We are very please Luke will be joining us. His excitement and ideas are very refreshing and a nice change. He is a reach out and grab it kind of guy and he will definitely be a positive addition to our newly restructured sales staff.” Blanchette added, “We also have Andrew Pitts joining the sales staff as well as a few others later in the week. Trust me when I say if you own a business in the United States, that one of our people will more than likely be in contact with you soon.”
Blanchette touched briefly on a few other items coming up for the league. “We will be announcing our first 5 franchises this Friday. They will make up our Florida division and there will be more franchise announcements coming in the near future. We are making a few changes to the tryout tour to make things more efficient. Mainly those changes will consist of a few dates being changed here and there but nothing of the major sort. Also later this week or early next week we will be introducing our interim Commissioner. So as you can see we have a lot of things going on in the WIFL, all of them positive and put into place in the best interest of reaching our goal of making the WIFL the premiere destination for all of the top quality female athletes in the country.”
Mr. Blanchette also encouraged fans to check the WIFL website and Facebook page daily for future announcements which shall be made shortly.
