They also sell used chairs that may or may not have been thrown at another person. We got vans to buy, times are tough all over.

OMG. There are alot of people in Wichita, Omaha, Salina, and Sioux City that are happy that Kansas City did not get their act together a little earlier. Playing like they are now, they could very easily take it all.
8-4 is not too bad, especially when 5 of your 12 games were against the top 3 teams.

KC isn't the first, and won't be the last, football team that finished their season hot and still missed the playoffs. They really jelled at the end with Coffin, but unfortunately for them their early games didn't bring them the results they needed.
In a league with an unbalanced schedule, I prefer a 6-team playoff since it would eliminate the instance of a hot team at the end being denied entry into the playoffs. It also keeps the bottom feeder teams more competitive longer since they still have hope for that 6th spot. I also like the fact that in a 6-team playoff, the top two seeds would get a bye (a nice reward for finishing at the top during the regular season).
Hopefully KC will return next year.

KC has been sold. The team will return next year and have hopefully learned from their growing pains. They have a pretty darn good core to build from right now.

Wondering why the Beef would be given a higher rank in the tie over Wichita since Wichita beat the Beef?

I think the point being made with KC is the schedule forced them to play tougher teams for their win loss record than other teams. KC would be in the play offs if it wasn't for their tougher schedule.
Wichita played the Beef and SC once in the regular season.

So here is the math. LOL
The Outlaws' opponents combined record was 84-60, 7 of their 12 games were against a team with a winning record.
The Haymakers' opponents combined record was 82-62, 7 of their 12 games were against a team with a winning record, with 0 victories against a playoff team.
The Koyotes' opponents combined record was 79-65, 7 of their 12 games were against a team with a winning record, with 0 victories against a playoff team.
The Defenders' opponents combined record was 75-69, 7 of their 12 games were against a team with a winning record, with 0 victories against a playoff team.
The Bandits' opponents combined record was 74-70, 6 of their 12 games were against a team with a winning record, with 2 victories against a playoff team.
The Renegades' opponents combined record was 72-72, 6 of their 12 games were against a team with a winning record, with 2 victories against a playoff team.
The Edge's opponents combined record was 70-74, 6 of their 12 games were against a team with a winning record, with 0 victories against a playoff team.
The Beef's opponents combined record was 67-77, 5 of their 12 games were against a team with a winning record, with 2 victories against a playoff team.
The Wild's opponents combined record was 63-81, 5 of their 12 games were against a team with a winning record, with 3 victories against a playoff team.
The Bombers' opponents combined record was 54-90, 4 of their 12 games were against a team with a winning record, with 0 victories against a playoff team.

Wondering why the Beef would be given a higher rank in the tie over Wichita since Wichita beat the Beef? The same reason SC is #1 seed when omaha beat us 2 times. since there was no even Head to head as omaha lost to wich, wich lost to sc, and sc lost to omaha. so they go to Strength of Schedule.

Just like Dana White tells the fighters in the UFC to not leave it in the hands of the judges, football teams also know they shouldn't leave it in the hands of league tiebreaker rules. If KC had beaten Salina, they'd be in. If Omaha had beaten KC the second time, they'd have the #1 seed. If Wichita had beaten Sioux City, they'd have the #1 seed.
I still say increase the number of playoff teams to 6 next season (it's better on so many levels).

I still say increase the number of playoff teams to 6 next season (it's better on so many levels). I agree with you on pretty much all points. Salina did beat KC head to head. Even if the two teams had tied (which they did not), I think Salina deserved to get the last spot due to that fact. Hard to argue one team is better than another on who played a harder schedule, if you got beat head to head. Having said that, I do believe K.C. was the better team. It just took them all season to figure out a couple important issues like QB and Coach (we had 3 head coaches and I think at one point they changed QB spot in the game roster to "fill in the blank") And I do believe you idea for 6 teams is better, all the team except the Outlaws and Koyotes would have had something to pay for with 2 weeks to go. My only real gripe is the scheduling. I just can not get behind a schedule that has teams not playing one team in the league ever, but playing another 3 times. Not to harp on Salina, but they beat 1 team with a winning schedule this year (granted it was K.C.). That is just short of putting a team that played a Division 2 schedule in the BCS Championship over a team that played a Division 1 schedule. Make the schedules as equal as possible. But I will close with two more points. I am actually happy for the Salina fans. They deserve to have a play-off team. They supported their team with good attendance all year long. I wish Kansas City had done the same. And point two, I can not wait till next year to kick some Bomber ass.

KC should protect itself next year from the same defective schedule if they can.
