I saw the gold medal game online yesterday. At least Canada held the USA to under 70. They beat Germany 107-7, and this is outdoor, 11-on-11 football.

I had never heard of it until a guy I know told me two of his daughters are playing for Team USA. The win over Germany was the first time the US was ever scored against in international play. There apparently is also a men's championship (most of the US players are from NAIA and Division III schools) and an under 20 championship.

I've followed the games for some time and get their updates in my facebook news feed (my facebook newsfeed and twitter account get me the news faster than any other medium). I was stationed in Germany for 5 years and I can personally attest to how much they love the game of American football there (moreso than the Brits), so Germany doing good in the series was not a surprise.

I "liked" the Women's Football Alliance Facebook page and I get updates from that. I also follow the WFA's Nebraska Stampede (who went 0-8 this year). I also know that the Germans love American football and that NFL Europe/Europa was mostly German teams (along with Amsterdam) the last few years of the league.

Yes, NFL Europe/Europa was awesome. I was over there when it was the World League of American Football in '91-'92 and went to all the Frankfurt Galaxy home games (I think I missed only one in '92, when I had to work an exercise or some such military bs). I miss the Galaxy games, they were as much fun as indoor football games are.
