By the numbers:
15 - The Sioux Falls Storm (IFL), Omaha Beef (CPIFL), Sioux City Bandits (CPIFL), Wyoming Cavalry (IFL), Texas Revolution (IFL), and San Antonio Talons (AFL) are the longest continuously running franchises in indoor/arena football at 15 consecutive years each (all started in 2000).
9.11 - The average age of teams operating in the current IFL (ranked 1st out of 8 active leagues).
8.22 - The average age of teams operating in the CPIFL (ranked 2nd out of 8 active leagues).
7 - The Corpus Christi Fury, Columbus Lions, Erie Explosion, Harrisburg Stampede, Albany Panthers, Richmond Raiders, and Alabama Hammers are the only seven teams still active from playing in the SIFL, which ran from 2009-2011.
6 - The Sioux Falls Storm, Omaha Beef, Sioux City Bandits, Wyoming Cavalry, Corpus Christi Fury, and Tri-Cities Fever are the only six teams still active from playing in the NIFL, which ran from 2001-2007.
6 - The Sioux Falls Storm, Omaha Beef, Sioux City Bandits, Bloomington Edge, Colorado Ice, and Wichita Wild are the only six teams still active from playing in the UIFA, which ran from 2005-2008.
6 - The Wyoming Cavalry, Columbus Lions, Erie Explosion, Harrisburg Stampede, Richmond Raiders, and Baltimore Mariners are the only six teams still active from playing in the AIFA, which ran from 2007-2010.
6 - Number of leagues the Corpus Christi Fury have played in (Intense in 2004 & 2006-2008; NIFL in 2005; IFL in 2009-2010; SIFL in 2011; LSFL in 2012; UIFL in 2013-now). The most of any team.
5 - The average age of teams operating in the UIFL (ranked 3rd out of 8 active leagues). This ranking is misleading since the league only has three teams and one has been around for 11 years while the other two are relatively new.
4.25 - The average age of teams operating in the PIFL (ranked 4th out of 8 active leagues).
4 - The Texas Revolution, Green Bay Blizzard, Amarillo Venom, and Tri-Cities Fever are the only four teams in indoor football that are still active from playing in the AF2, which ran from 2000-2009. Note: The San Antonio Talons, Iowa Barnstormers, and Spokane Shock also played in the AF2 and are currently active in the AFL.
4 - The Sioux City Bandits, Kansas Koyotes, Lincoln Haymakers, and Oklahoma Defenders are the only four teams still active from playin in the APFL, which ran from 2003-2012.
4 - The Saginaw Sting, Rochester Raiders, Baltimore Mariners, and Northern Kentucky River Monsters are the only active teams to return from taking one or more years off. Only the Northern Kentucky River Monsters returned under their original ownership.
3.6 - The average age of teams operating in the CIFL (ranked 5th out of 8 active leagues).
3.2 - The average age of teams operating in the LSFL (ranked 6th out of 8 active leagues). Similar to the UIFL, the LSFL has one team that has been active for 11 years while the others are relatively new.
3 - The Sioux Falls Storm, Sioux City Bandits, and Wyoming Cavalry are the only three teams still active from playing in the original IFL, which ran from 1999-2000.
2.83 - The average age of teams operating in the AIF (ranked 7th out of 8 active leagues). Two of the AIF's six teams are returned versions of old franchises and essentially new startups. Take away their prior history and the league's average age would fall to 1.5 years (which would be the lowest of all active leagues).
2 - The Corpus Christi Fury and Amarillo Venom are the only teams still active from playing in the Intense, which ran from 2004 & 2006-2008.
1.83 - The average age of teams operating in the XLIF (ranked 8th out of 8 active leagues).
1 - The Omaha Beef are the only team still active from playing in the IPFL, which ran from 1999-2001.
1 - The Wyoming Cavalry are the only team still active that has played in a league that folded mid-season (NIFL in 2007).
1 - The Rochester Raiders are the only team still active from playing in the GLIFL in 2006 (which is now named the CIFL).
1 - The Columbus Lions are the only team still active from playing in the WIFL, which ran for one year in 2007.
0 - Number of active teams that played in the CIFL in 2010.
0 - Number of active teams that played in the PIFL (1998) or AIFL (both incarnations from 2005-2006).
Key: IFL = Indoor Football League (1999-2000) IPFL = Indoor Professional Football League (1999-2001) AF2 = Arena Football 2 (2000-2009) NIFL = National Indoor Football League (2001-2007) APFL = American Professional Football League (2003-2012) Intense = Intense Football League (2004 and 2006-2008) UIFA = United Indoor Football Association (2005-2008) GLIFL = Great Lakes Indoor Football League (2006)* CIFL = Continental Indoor Football League (2007-now) WIFL = World Indoor Football League (2007) AIFA = American Indoor Football Association (2007-2010) IFL = Indoor Football League (2009-now) SIFL = Southern Indoor Football League (2009-2011) UIFL = Ultimate Indoor Ftbl League (2011 & 2013-now) UIFL = United Indoor Football League (2012)** LSFL = Lone Star Football League (2012-now) PIFL = Professional Indoor Football League (2012-now) AIF = American Indoor Football (2012-now) CPIFL = Champions Professional Indoor Ftbl Lg (2013-now) XLIF = X-League Indoor Football (2014-now)

Yeah, if only the Swashbucklers had returned, then you'd effectively have your 1998 PIFL team.

I don't believe they're the same Louisiana franchise.

Good catch, thanks. I'll add that on the next update (have to add AIF Washington Eagles in as a travel-only beat up team as well).

Couldn't the Cedar Rapids Titans claim the years of the LaCrosse Spartans? I know the Titans were said to be an expansion team, but so many connections between franchises. I always considered it more of a relocation.

I don't believe they're the same Louisiana franchise. It's more that they "effectively" are the same franchise. I think in a technical sense, when it went from Shiver's Landsharks to the Swashbucklers, it was basically two separate franchises, but they always seemed to operate as one. Much the same vein as the 2000 IFL teams that are on your list.

A franchise is in essence a company, and most are under LLC protection nowadays. If a company moves, changes their name, or sells the company to someone else, it is the same company. If the company stops operations then they are either inactive or dead. A new company can come in and buy an inactive company, but most new companies don't want to pay for something they don't really need (although some have in order to try to bring in the old fans back into the fold, such as the Rochester Raiders). The franchise chart is just tracking actual franchises, not different teams that have played in the same city with a lot of the same players. If you see any errors on my chart and can point out links to provide clarification, that would always be appreciated.

So the Bandits, Storm and Wyoming Cavalry were new franchises. That is how I see it anyway.
