about as good of a game as I thought it'd be. I knew I should went up there. It was a good game, but Omaha misses OJ on the field, he makes plays and gets them fired up.

Well, it was great to see Omaha back on the field after two bye weeks. I'll post more tomorrow.

Good game. First indoor football game I have ever watched without having to also work. Certainly a different experience.
Omaha really looked like a team trying to shake out the cobwebs of 20 days off for a good portion of the game. Watching James McNear progress over the last 2.5 years has been an absolute treat. From electrifying athlete to game manager to absolute superstar. I'd take him over any QB in this league right now. The guy is such a rare breed in that he makes huge plays and doesn't make mistakes. Phenominal player. Grixby continues to shine. He gives you the feeling of taking one back to the house everytime he touches the ball really changes the game on Special Teams. To Colorado's credit, they kicked to him all game long. Teams don't even both to look his way much on defense, either. I have a feeling he's making himself some real money outdoors after the IFL season ends. Golston had a game to forget, especially considering it came against his old squad. Hill ate him up on a bunch of deep routes and Talley ended up finishing the game at CB. It was nice to see RJ Rollins bust off a couple big runs. He also led the team in receiving, too. Probably a combination of his improving ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and McNear using his checkdown when it's not there down field. Banana is right when he talks about the spark the offense misses without OJ on the field. He takes a really good offense and makes it flatout unstoppable. The thought of a WR between Bell/Burrell/Jones as a 4th wideout is just sick.
If there are problems to look at despite the 5 game winning streak, I think they are pretty clear. Still too many breakdowns on the defensive side of the football. A lot of QBs are putting up some big numbers against a defensive unit that man for man has all the talent in the world. They did step up and make some big plays tonight, though. Colorado was 1 for 10 on 3rd downs which is going to win you a lot of football games. Secondly, if this team wants to take that step from great to elite, I think it needs to garner more of a killer instinct. For whatever reason, home or road, they haven't really been able to put teams away. Off the top of my head I remember 2/3 score leads against Abilene, Billings, Colorado x2, Odessa, Wichita that have evaporated or cut into enough to leave teams in the game. Up 2 scores early at home against a Colorado team that has fallen off a cliff after that last second loss, I think this team needs to put their foot down.
All said, for a team that went 20 days without football, sloppy play was probably to be expected to a certain degree, and getting a win against a desperate Colorado team looking for revenge is always a good thing. Off to River City, a team that beat Omaha down pretty good at their place early last year.
Two statistics I will probably look at when I have time is sacks allowed and interceptions thrown. A Beef QB hasn't been sacked and hasn't thrown an INT since before the Abilene game, 4-5 games ago. Pretty crazy stuff.
And as for the broadcast, my illness was not the reason for the lack of home radio. I'll leave it at that and let the Sherlock's of the board fill in the blanks.
Rant over. Go Beef.
