I know the Wild have raisde some issues in the past on visiting teams giving away balls, becuase they didn't want the extra expense, but they also at that time (not this season) had fined their own players for giving away balls. Based on the high number of balls I've seen handed out, I'm guessing they gave up on that. Although they still chase down most of the field goals & kickoffs (funny to watch sometimes!) Still - that shouldn't matter as far as a penalty. And I've seen some large visiting celebrations go unflagged. Maybe the player said something? (I did like the rowing the boat celebration - who was that - Omaha?) they had some good ones! Yeah, I'm not sure why it's a penalty to throw a ball in the stands...I've seen it done all year. A league rule book published online would explain it though...hint, hint. Omaha also asks the fans to return kicked balls and announces that before the game. Unlike the NFL, end zone celebrations can include multiple players for some reason. I don't like it as it usually results in skirmishes later on. Yes, it was Omaha that did the rowing unfortunately. I'm old fashioned I guess, I like it when someone scores a TD, hands the ball to the ref, and goes to the sidelines like it was no big deal, easy in fact. I can even take a high five, but the rest is just showmanship to me and I don't like it. I did see one penalty flag get thrown though and that was when a player went to midfield and did a display after a TD on the opposing team's logo. Evidently that isn't allowed.

Or the IFL could do the sensible-for-fans thing and mandate all balls leaving the field of play *during the game* stay with the fan that got them. But that would make sense. Depends on the team from what I've seen. Some teams let all balls be kept, and other have them return kicked balls.

Generally I am against the celebrations too - for some reason the rowing one was just amusing - coud've just been in a weird mood that night. Absolutely shows more class to hand the ball off and go.
I know many teams have fans return kicked balls - but it is so funny to watch someone catch a ball and then start to look out or hide the ball to see if this is the time the Wild send someone after it - it's not been consistent for weeks. Mostly since they got booed pretty badly for taking it from a very excited little boy.
