Just tried out Opera 9.6 because I read that it's the most secure. I have to say, I like it so far. I think it might pass firefox as my new favorite browser. I really like the security of it so far, and right now that tops my list of what I want in a browser.

Can't you use another browser for webmail? I don't see why it has to be internet explorer. They all support https and such.
From what I read Opera has it's own adblocker and I've been using it since yesterday and I have to say it does a good job. It also uses less memory than Firefox. Typically I have 5-20 tabs open at a time, sometimes more, due to doing a lot of stuff and going back and forth and such and firefox can get up to 400mbs when I'm using it hard. I have 40 tabs open right now on Opera and it's only using 80mbs. So far Opera rules in my opinion and it's now my main browser and firefox is second. I won't use Internet Explorer again, they keep having issues and it's where I got the virus that infected my last system, so I'm done with it.
Firefox just issued a urgent update today as well and I added that. They also won't be supporting version 2.0 anymore, so if you're using Firefox make sure to upgrade to version 3 so you get the latest security updates.

Internet Explorer was patched up, but if you ask me it's still the least secure of the browsers available to use. Nothing is ever 100% secure, which is why you should never keep passwords or banking info permanently on your machine. Of all the browsers to use on a windows machine, internet explorer is just a terrible risk due to being tied to the operating system. As I mentioned before, other browsers are just applications, so if they're hacked there's only so far the attacker can get. Not so with internet explorer, you entire system could be invaded and you might not even know it and everything you do could be monitored (banking info...ouch) and your machine resources could be used for the attackers' purposes. Most hacks are targeted towards IE as well since it's the dominant browser on the net. I realize my potential microsoft sponsorship deal has dried up as I type this, but it's the truth unfortunately and I'd hate to see any of you get hacked. It's up to you, just be careful what info you put on your computer and choose carefully how you use it and protect it nowadays.
