I know there are a number of you that are in the know. I would like to know what teams are paying for rent. Please post the seating capacity of the arena for comparison reasons. I know the prices will vary greatly and concession/parking is sometimes a factor. Just curious.

I know Marion's is in the range of $1,000 a game, and the team gets a bit of a cut of concession money.

It is - but realize when the Mayhem came to town, the Coliseum was on the verge of going dark for the 51 weeks the county fair isn't going. In 2006, the team's first year, the arena made so much money they no longer even had to ask for an operating levy (failure of which was why the place almost went dark).
The Mayhem don't get any parking money - but obviously this rent deal isn't hurting them any.

Phydeaux what do you think to be the avg asking price for mid-sized market arenas 3-10,000 seating capacity?

That's a pretty loaded question. I would say anywhere from $1,000 per game (as we've seen in this thread) all the way up to $15,000 per game. It all depends on the size of the facility, who's managing it, age of facility, etc. Every market is different. Ector County Coliseum (Odessa, TX) has a capacity of just over 5,000 and the Roughnecks pay less than $2,000 per game. But it's an old facility, although very well kept. And that includes the cost of setting up and taking down the field. The Laredo Lobos (remember them?) paid in the neighborhood of $14,000 per game for the LEC, which is an newer SMG-run state-of-the-art facility. The Ruff Riders paid between $6,000 and $9,000 for use of the Merrell Center depending on labor and other factors involved. Some facilities will do everything for little to nothing extra. Others won't as much as lift a finger without getting paid mega-bucks to do so. I could go on all weekend about this. But as you can see it's a very loaded question with a very broad answer. There's just no short or simple way to answer that question.

Some arenas don't deserve teams for that reason. That said, some of those teams charging exorbitant prices don't *want* them, either.

$2,500 was also the base amount that we were charged for the Merrell Center in Katy. But once all the extras were added on the rent would run anywhere from 6,000 to 9,000.
