The new Indoor Football League was born on 1 August, a merger of the 8 team United Indoor Football Association and the 9 team Intense Football League.
The name Indoor Football League was previously used in 1999-2000 and a few of the teams in that league are in this new incarnation. Can anyone name those teams?
Anyway, I'm excited about the potential of this new league. A lot of people worked hard to make this happen and I appreciate all they did.
My biggest concern is what the rules will be. There will be upcoming meetings to determine that and I'm sure they will be pretty long. What I'd like to see is basically the outdoor game played indoors, which is what the UIFA and NIFL rule set basically was. I want to see teams being able to run the ball effectively and have great defenses, something you don't see in the arena style set of rules. I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks about this.

Wichita Warlords were in the IFL - not related to the Wild directly, but the start of indoor football in Wichita.

Great work.
Only Billings, Sioux City, and Sioux Falls are still the same franchises that have been in both incarnations of the Indoor Football League. Wyoming is still the same franchise it was when it was in the original Indoor Football League so if they join then they would be added to the list.

How are you defining franchise? Same ownership group? DId all the teams change names along the way? Where did they teams play in between IFL and IFL?

A Franchise as an entity that has played each year with no interuption. Franchises can be sold to different owners. It's just like the franchises in the NFL.

Name changes don't change the fact that they are still the same franchise, just like in the NFL.
I know the Wichita franchise that came from the AF2 and went to the APFL still belongs to the APFL if I'm not mistaken and the Wild are a whole new entity. That's what the press releases stated at the time as well.

Yeah - that's correct - the Wild is a whole new entity. That's why I was wondering if the others were the same ownership - That would be very impressive. Each team that has come through Wichita (Warlords, Stealth, Aviators and Wild) would be (to me) considered different franchises. I'm just confused - not questioning. As far as I know there were no ties between the Stealth and the Aviators either - other than the same players.

But another nugget of fun to add to the mix is that Sioux City has had the same owner for the whole thing.

See -- now that is AWESOME!!! We can't keep an owner in Wichita for more than a few years!

The first owner of the SIoux Falls Storm.. one Mr. Bob Scott. yeah the guy who owns Sioux City. As much as we hate each other, I don't think either team would still be here without the other.

He did indeed and it was much appreciated. He was merely a caretaker until new ownership could be found, but his involvement kept the franchise going for that year.
