Oh yes it's Friday Night,
And it's ladies night,
And the Prowlers sure are
Dressed just right,
Oh what a night.
I got back from the Iowa Blackhawks game, where they had just beaten their newest rival the Mid-Missouri Outlaws 41-37, so I was feeling good and got into my man chair (i.e. recliner...some say old man chair, but their just jealous) with my laptop and started checking other indoor scores. I suddenly recalled that someone had said that the NFL Network was airing AFL games on Friday Nights and I hadn't checked out the league this year yet, so I thought I'd tune in and see if a game was on. This was the first time I've turned on the TV to watch something in 3 months since I mostly watch everything on the computer nowadays. Actually, I've turned on the TV to kick major Mario Kart ass with my Wii (can't touch this), but that's it. Who the $&%$ needs cable in this digital age...I don't. Anyway, there is a game on (right now as I type this) and it's the Jacksonville Sharks at Orlando Predators.
When I first tuned into the game the first thing I noticed was the professional way the players uniforms looked and how their jerseys always look like they are tucked in, but are actually tailored to fit better (something I don't always see in indoor ball...and would like to see). The second thing I noticed was the Orlando Cheerleaders (I would've noticed them first except the camera hadn't panned to them yet). The cheerleaders outfits were some of the best I've seen (and by that I mean they were quite revealing...nice...by nice I mean nice as a man, not as a Dad...my daughter wouldn't be wearing that stuff...not if I can help it...like I'll have a say...**** right I will). Anyway, it definitely made me google the Orlando Cheerleaders, but unfortunately the outfits they're wearing tonight I couldn't find anywhere online. All I can say is that they are very nice, me likee. While looking online though, I did come across this article from Mrs. Chris Greisen, the wife of the AFL's Milwaukee Iron QB. She didn't like the way the Orlando Cheerleaders were dressed in a game at Orlando last May and wrote to the commish and pretty much the entire league about it, saying it was not family entertainment (trust me, kids are smarter than you think and hiding scantily clad women doesn't protect them...only inspires them...lol). Here's the article:

First, I'm glad the Orlando Predators stuck to their guns and kept their cheerleaders as is.
Second, there are a lot more worse things in this world than scantily clad women on TV at football games...such as little children in scantily clad clothes at football games. I can't tell you how many football games I've been to where girls aged 5-16 are dressed like strippers performing routines at halftime and acting like they're dancing at a club. If you want to get rid of anything, get rid of that.
Cheerleaders that are of legal age dancing in skimpy outfits at a football game, which is also a family event, sorry...don't see anything wrong with it here. I've seen ballerinas in some outfits that are risque, but have never heard any women complaining about that. In Europe women go around topless at many swimming places. A lot of women in the U.S. need to either grow up or turn the channel, or do something else if they are offended by cheerleaders in skimpy uniforms, because in this day and age of sex and risque behavior on TV, it isn't going away.
So I say,
Bring on the risque,
Whether it be night,
Or it be day,
Do not say nay,
Just say OK!
And no, I have not been drinking tonight.
And it's ladies night,
And the Prowlers sure are

Orlando Predators Prowler dancers too risqué?
28 May 2010

FOX 35 News
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Are the Orlando Predators' cheerleaders too sexy for family fun?
The cheerleaders, called the Prowlers, are facing heat for their dance outfits some are even complaining about their dance moves saying they are a better fit for a strip club than a football game.
However the trained dancers disagree.
“I don’t think they’re that bad. There are a lot of NBA and NFL costumes that are riskier than ours. We like our costumes and it’s what the fans want,” said Renee, a proud Prowler dancer.
Fans also don’t seem to have a problem with Prowlers.
“It’s what other people make of it. They look for stuff to complain about. It’s a game we go to have fun,” said Predators fan Marlene Kubiak.
The Predators posted a poll on their website asking fans what they think of the cheerleaders and most responded the dancers weren’t risqué’ enough.
“As an owner I’m more conservative. I personally think they are too risqué but it’s not about me it’s about the fans,” said Predators managing member Brett Bouchy.
Officials with the Predators say they won't be changing their cheerleaders anytime soon because their fans like the girls just the way they are.
The Predators say they received a few letters complaining that their Prowler dancers are too risqué.
Here is the letter posted on the Predators’ website:
Dear Commisioner Kurz, Ms. Gomez, Mr. Armour, Mr. Kleinsmith, Ms. Coulter, Orlando Predators Staff, and anyone else to whom it may concern:
I am writing to express my extreme discontent with what I viewed via Nifty TV tonight. The broadcast of the Orlando v. Milwaukee game was a disgrace to professional football and the AFL... And I'm not referring to the football game itself. The football seemed to take a back seat to the practically naked Orlando Predator dancers who danced as if they belonged in a strip club, not a football arena. The dancers/cheerleaders in the AFL have always, in my opinion, teetered on trashy. Tonight the Orlando Predators dancers - and the crew who produced the video broadcast - reached a new low. The sexually explicit dancers were arguably the focus of the broadcast crew; as soon as most plays finished, they'd go right back to zooming in on the dancers and wouldn't return to the football game until the ball was being snapped. A football game should not be "R" rated; I thought the AFL was supposed to provide fan-friendly family entertainment.
My husband, Chris Greisen, plays this game because he loves it and cherishes the opportunity to play professional football, especially with our four young children cheering him on. Tonight I couldn't let them watch Daddy play because of the frequent and inappropriate exhibition of scantily-clothed women dancing in ways no child should ever witness.
This unfortunate exhibition strayed far, in my mind, from the AFL mission and the Fans' Bill of Rights. As stated within the mission statement, the AFL strives, "To serve our community with pride... by demonstrating the highest character..." More specifically, the Fans' Bill of Rights states these points:
- "We believe that every Fan is entitled to a wholesome environment for guests and family members...
- "We believe that Fans expect the AFL to be comprised of gentlemen and ladies who are examples and role models for youth..."
This was hardly the case tonight. In case you did not personally see this broadcast or witness the dancers live, I wanted to bring this to your attention.
Thank you for attention to my concerns. Thank you, also, for giving my husband the opportunity to continue to play the game he loves.
Sincerely,
Shannon Greisen
