Storm Faithful Consider Season A Success

SIOUX FALLS, SD - After forfeiting games in 2009 and missing the playoffs because of a rules violation, the Sioux Falls Storm and its followers were eager to get some revenge this year. So, they titled their journey, the "Season of Redemption," but following a loss to Billings in the United Bowl, were they really able to redeem themselves in their own eyes.
For a franchise that's used to winning titles, anything short of a championship just doesn't seem to be enough. That sentiment is echoed by Storm veteran Quarterback Terrance Bryant, a player who's never experienced a playoff loss with the team and says this one was hard to take.
"I take all my losses hard. As a competitor, you don't like to lose, especially losing a championship game. You really take that to heart," Bryant said.
Despite falling to Billings 43-34 on Saturday, many supporters say the defeat doesn't diminish the bounce back success the organization has enjoyed over the past year. In fact, hundreds showed up today to let the team know they were proud of their efforts.
"I'm proud of them because they did good defense and all that kind of stuff," youngster Zach Horr said while standing next to his brother Connor.
"The whole idea is to have entertainment and fun and winning is the ice cream on top of the cake. It would have been nice to have won that, no doubt, but they don't have to feel bad about it. They had a good year and maybe next year," avid Storm fan Bob Roach said.
And with a new owner in place along with a new way of doing things, there's little standing in the way anymore of what could be a very successful Storm for years to come.
"We did some things around in the organization that we didn't do in years past. We came together as a team. The front office came together. I got to give my hats off to Todd Tryon. I feel bad that we didn't win a championship for him but you know for a first year owner it was a great start for him," Bryant said.
