Tillery's loss is bigger IMHO.

Cavalry QB says he'll make decision by end of month
Strand weighs his options

The schedule is set. The roster? Not so much.
The Wyoming Cavalry open play in the Indoor Football League on March 6, 2011, when they travel to Fort Collins, Colo., to take on the Colorado Ice. The Cavs, who joined the IFL this fall after three years in the American Indoor Football Association, will play their first three games on the road before hosting former AIFA foe Arizona on April 1.
Just who will be lining up behind center for the Cavs remains to be seen, however.
Longtime Cavalry quarterback Matt Strand is still weighing his options on whether to return for a ninth year with the team.
"I'll make my decision by the end of the month," Strand said. "I don't want to wait too long ... I want to give [coach Dan Maciejczak] time to find another quarterback if I decide to not come back."
Maciejczak said he hasn't pushed Strand for an answer.
"It's kind of like a Brett Favre type of situation," Maciejczak said. "We'll give Matt time to make a choice ... I think he's earned it.
"I know he hasn't made up his mind one way or the other yet. He's got a lot to think about."
Strand, who lives in Casper with his wife and two kids, admitted that the thought of spending more time with his family will be an important factor in his final decision. But the thought of competing in a new league with some of the Cavs' offensive weapons could be tough to pass up.
Veteran wide receivers Dante Dudley, James Everage and B.J. Charlton are expected to return for the upcoming season, as is running back Josh Schleusner. Unfortunately, the Cavs will be without receiver Jasonus Tillery, who recently signed an Arena Football League contract with the Kansas City Command.
"The move to the IFL is definitely a factor," Strand said. "I think it's a good move for the Cavalry, and it's exciting to think about having to be ready to play every week against a quality team.
"But it would be nice to spend that time with my family."
Whatever Strand decides, Maciejczak expects the Cavalry to be competitive in their new league.
Wyoming advanced to the AIFA title game in each of its three years in the league, but came up short each time.
"It could be kind of a rebuilding year for us," Maciejczak said, "but I'm excited to hit the ground running."
MOVING ON: Tillery isn't the only former Wyoming player that will be in the AFL this upcoming season, as OL Robbie Klinetobe (Kansas City), LB Charles Hunt (Jacksonville) and OL Shannon Tevega (Spokane) all will line up for AFL teams in 2011.
"It's tough to lose those guys," Maciejczak said, "but it opens doors for other players.
"And it's a good selling point, because one of my jobs is to get players ready to move on to the next level."
