Oh good grief
Really?....
Reggie, USC got Bushed and Newton got a day?

So Cam Newton’s father shopped his son, peddled his boy’s quarterbacking skills in a manner nearly as obvious as the way made famous by Ron Popeil, and the NCAA verdict is one day of ineligibility?
One day, during which Auburn’s star missed nothing.
The cost of greed certainly has plummeted since the behavior of Reggie Bush and his family cost USC victories, scholarships and reputation and Reggie a famous trophy.
No, this isn’t meant to compare the crimes of the Bush bunch, which were vulgar and plenty, to the – purportedly – isolated entrepreneurial activities of one Cecil Newton. But, come on, NCAA, a man openly selling his son’s services has to cost more than this.
Understand, Auburn isn’t at fault here. If all the evidence is to be believed, the Tigers did nothing wrong and have no reason to be punished.
But what Cecil Newton did certainly is wrong, way, way wrong, and by not bringing any actual justice, the NCAA is only encouraging parents, friends and “handlers” of future stars to conduct their business in a similar manner.
Beyond that, how could the NCAA wrap up this investigation in a relative eye blink, when it took the same organization years to sort through the Bush mess?
Just a few things to consider while watching Newton lead the Tigers to the SEC title and BCS championship game, while securing the Heisman Trophy.
Maybe they should give him two Heismans, in fact, so he can share one with his cheating father. We know there’s another trophy sitting around the office somewhere, collecting dust.

The fact the NCAA did nothing speaks loudly.
The whole college football sports "system" makes millions off these players who play for nothing (unless you're a star recruit). Have you ever heard Michael Irvin talk about how the U of Miami recruited him and his innuendos of compensations??? This stuff HAS been going on forever and will continue to do so.
There are so many examples, do a simple google search or just listen when ex-athletes talk. NFL Network Analyst Charles Davis went off on Kara Henderson earlier this year when talking about how kids should shrug off the offers agents throw their way when in college and he gave the example that as dirt poor kids it's hard to resist. Even though he was right, he was harsh in the way he said it to her making me think it's a pretty touchy subject for himself. If people want to keep their head in the sand that's up to you I guess.
