Rumor is that Houston's SIFL team will not play in 2011. We'll know soon with the season just around the corner.

Rumor untrue.
I went to the Stallions Org, and asked. They are full steam ahead, preparing for their 2011 run at the title.
I tried my best in my 2 seasons with the SIFL to dispel all rumors or shed light onto situations that arose. They will play 2011

Houston, and the metro area are "top shelf or crap" types and as such have never supported minor league anything, except somehow the Aeros.. (Inaugural Season season ticket holder here :-) )

This was indeed untrue, since as of right now they have played one game. That game was supposed to be a home game in Houston, but the Stallions failed to reach an agreement with their intended stadium. Instead, the league moved the game to Corpus Christi (the Hammerheads' home) and the Stallions played the Magic there in a game that was free to the public.
The Stallions have since secured a deal to play their remaining 4 home games (the other remaining home game is a forfeit win against Lafayette, a team which folded before the season began). The Stallions will play those 4 games 70 miles away from Houston in Winnie, Texas at Nutty Jerry's Entertainment Complex in a converted outdoor rodeo section that was recently enclosed in order to hold basketball games and concerts. There may be an issue with the facility in that lighting equipment and speakers are supposedly not far off the ground and kicking could be limited to squib kicks.
So while this rumor was untrue, there was definitely smoke to the fire and the solution of the Stallions to continue their season was definitely of no benefit to Houston fans or their sponsors.
