On Andrew Haines' facebook page, he mentioned that an announcement for a 2012 UIFL expansion team will be coming soon.

He mentioned he was on I-75 a lot as a teaser.

Looks like the league will be around more than one season, baring unfortunate circumstances.

Possibilities in the UIFL geographic hold:

Flint MI
Fraser MI (suburb of Detroit, the arena there would be pretty nice, and they'd work with a team)
Troy OH (original home of Miami Valley)
Dayton OH I guess - but I doubt the Nutter Center is going to do that (Silverbacks play at Hara)
I think Cincy has another arena, but also not cost-effective
Lexington, but see above
