I hope Stacy can keep her job after blabbing to the local news about something they didn't want public yet...lol.

Downtown Saginaw hotel changes hands again

Saginaw Sting CEO Mike Esposito yells to a referee after a call early during the Saginaw Sting season opener earlier this year. A hotel employee says Esposito now owns the Saginaw Plaza Hotel, 400 Johnson, across the street from where the Sting play at The Dow Event Center.
SAGINAW — The Saginaw Plaza Hotel appears to have changed hands, again.
The downtown venue — which has fallen under seven different managers since 1980 — now is owned by Mike Esposito, the Saginaw Sting’s general manager, a hotel employee says.
Stacy Bauer, an administrative assistant and events coordinator at the 170-room hotel, said Esposito began managing the facility in mid-February and is its owner.
Esposito told a reporter by phone that he was unavailable to talk. The hotel’s previous owner, Satish Shethi, also did not return phone calls.
There are no records of the transaction filed with the Saginaw County Register of Deeds or with the Saginaw assessor’s office.
Shethi’s Chicago-based investment team took over managing the hotel in May 2009 when the group re-opened the former Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel and Conference Center after a foreclosure against the previous owner shuttered the facility for three years.
Shethi’s team invested thousands of dollars in renovating the years-shuttered hotel’s rooms and pool.
Details of the investment group’s departure are unclear.
The hotel, 400 Johnson, sits across from The Dow Event Center, where Esposito’s Sting play. The team is 2-1 in its inaugural season, with the next game scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday March 24.
Esposito was asked to run the Sting after the indoor football team’s original owner and general manager, Tony Stewart and Andre White, backed out of an agreement in November 2010.
Esposito is also serving as commissioner for the Ultimate Indoor Football League. He said he has worked in administration and coaching with several other indoor football teams since 1999 and also has a background in scouting.
He also spent 11 years as a professional wrestler. His nickname was “Repo Man.”
