So even though i was not excited for the start of the 2011 SIFL season, as i was the first 2 seasons, I was interested to see just how different this was going to be. Starting year 1 with a team that just couldn't get started in the time we had allotted and finding a travel only team. Year 2 fielding 6 teams and having a schedule in hand, to have a team (same team) fold at the start of the season, and finding replacement teams to start the season. It had to be a better start, right?
The ruts in the pavement are deep in the SIFL and the same path was easily followed. A team that didn't have a home arena (even though the League made a schedule around dates from that arena?) and had to move opening night to a neutral sight. Then the day of the start of the season, the team that rumored to have the owner with the most money, has to fold 3 days before their first game, a road game, because WC insurance is too high. Here we go again.
The rest of the league was ready to roll on right? Games being played by the teams involved. That was just 1 game of the week that would be affected, so the SIFL will rally and pull week 1 together, strongly right? from the team level, i have to say yes, but where were the game updates, pregame stories, post game stories, pictures. I guess that is not where the focus year is at. Where is the B2 or live game video option. Maybe it is being worked on, maybe by mid-season we can see something. Who is looking at for the fans? Without keeping the fans happy, there ultimately is no league. So why not go that little extra mile and give the fans something as simple as.... LIVE or even semi live SCORES on your league website. I know that the league grew from 6 teams to 16 teams, but the teams are more then willing to help by sending updates to 1 person who can submit updates. Take it from me, it is not that hard to do, i know!
So they had games! Some good ones too. On Monday you can find recaps, but the score from Saturday and Sunday are as follows..... wait..... what about the game that took place on Opening Night FRIDAY!!!!! COME ON MAN!!!! IS it that hard to put ALL the games played that week, in the weekly recap? Well, let me help out.. From Friday, Fayetteville 45 - Carolina 39. Saturday, Columbus 67 - Alabama 20, Abilene 83 - Corpus Christi 27, Albany 30 - Louisiana 27, Richmond 59 - Trenton 56. On Sunday, Houston 52 - Rio Grande Valley 20, Erie 46 - Harrisburg 25. Mondays Exhibition/ Regular season opener in Mobile vs a replacement team. Welcome to the SIFL.
So, my first post caught the dander of the new/old/new Dir of Communications for the SIFL. We went to war in year one side by side, trying to make the little league we had, the best we could. He left us in year 2, stepped away and recharged his batteries and came back. More power to you my old friend. I wish you luck, but i stand by my first post, completely! But why i received this as a reply that had absolutely nothing to do with you.
Oh well, It is what it is. Am i a Martyr for actually walking away because it was the right decision to make? I stayed long enough to see, no matter what i personally brought to the table to better the league, nothing on the side i had no control over was going to change and dammed to follow its pattern again. Low and behold, it did...
Until next time.... Not on my watch

Rob, I love you like a brother, but I am so frakkin' sick of you playing martyr.
You're not the only one in the business who has been screwed over. Deal with it. Happened to me as well.
Your misguided passions allowed you to entered a bad business deal, then you continued to take the abuse and yet you didn't have the common sense to walk away before it consumed you entirely.
I'm not denying you're deserving of whatever compensation you think you're owed, but now you're airing dirty laundry in public and as a professional, you should be waaaaaay beyond that. But the trouble is, we're so used to such an incredible low level of professionalism in the sport of indoor football that we think this is the standard. I grow weary of it and hope the sport utilizes its resources for the sake of its credibility.
You have an issue with someone, deal with them and only them. If the issue isn't resolved to your satisfaction, get legal assistance. Until then, shut up and move on. Richard Dow seems to be doing well using this model.
This is my personal opinion and does not reflect the opinion of any of my clients.
