the question wasn't about 'who would you start your team with' it was who is the greatest player in your NFL history.
The answer is still Jerry Rice.

You can have him.

Lewis isn't bad. Could do without the whole murder thing...but when (considering the picks the Browns took in 1995 in the trade were rubbish) you get Ray Lewis for J.J. Stokes...that's a reasonably good haul.

Oh, and I'd start my team with Ben Roethlisberger...best quarterback I've seen when everything totally turns to **** and he's running for his life...which happens often with that worse-than-you'd-think Stillers line.

I don't look up to anybody as no one is perfect, but I do appreciate when people do the right thing and he's definitely turned his life around (which impresses me). I like his play and his leadership, and I'd pick him first if starting a team from scratch and he was in his prime.

I'd still go with Roethlisberger, just because...well, right now you don't win if you don't have an elite quarterback (regardless of who the best player ever is). Lewis wouldn't be a bad consolation prize.
If we had Roethlisberger (e.g. someone who was durable in the face of an unmitigated disaster of an o-line) instead of Couch (who was better-than-advertised but when you're hit hard 10 times a game you're gonna break down), the newBrowns would've had a much better start to things.
Oh, what coulda been. At least we had the one playoff game where Coach Nervous Breakdown (Butch Davis) started Kelly "freaking" Holcomb instead of the Tim Couch that led them to the playoffs, only to choke away a win in Pittsburgh. And the 10-6 non-playoff year with Derek "freaking" Anderson.

This is still a team sport and in today's game Pittsburgh wins because of their defense. Roethburger is good, but I'd take Peyton Manning over him (another great player and leader).
1. Lewis 2. Manning

You can have Manning. I prefer a quarterback that can win when things go bad, not just when everything's clicking.
Oh, and a guy who can win pressure games...

Put them both on a team with the same players, I think Manning does better. All conjecture of course, I just think his leadership and knowledge of the game is better. Ben is better at improvising when a play is in motion. Ben has also had the better defense through his career.

Jerry Rice was super awesome but he is no Randy Moss. ;D if there was a draft with all players ever my 1st pick would be Randy Moss so I guess im saying Randy Moss is the greatest player in NFL history.

You mean Jerry never tried to hit a meter maid with his car?

Randy Moss is a one trick pony. He can run fast and catch the ball over people. He cannot take a 7 yard slant and break it the distance. He did not make big catches over the middle on 3rd downs. He tried a punt return once and fumbled miserably.
That being said I am a Niner fan and look forward to what Moss will bring. I hope he still runs fast and can catch passes over defenders.
It is hard to say who is the best I have ever seen. It would have to be the likes of Sanders, or Brady pre-injury, I cannot pick a player from defense. I probably enjoyed watching Brett Favre play more than anyone who is not a Niner.
