HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – Ricardo Lenhart caught three touchdowns and Maurice Douse ran for two as Northern Kentucky remained unbeaten at home with the 34-28 victory Saturday over Huntington in Ultimate Indoor Football League action at the Bank of Kentucky Center Saturday. (Game Stats)
After falling behind early, Huntington scored two touchdowns late to pull to within six points, but Chris McCreery recovered his second onside kick of the game and NKY ran out the clock.
Jared Lorenzen finished 15-of-27 for 183 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Lenhart finished with eight receptions for 127 yards and three scores.
Linebacker Jon D’Angelo, the league’s leading tackler, finished with seven tackles, while Kenneth Joshen had four tackles and an interception.
Huntington quarterback Martavious Young threw for two touchdowns, and the Hammer added two rushing scores.
Northern Kentucky (10-2) maintains its one-game lead over Saginaw in the hunt for the top seed in the playoffs, and stays home next week (May 21) to face Eastern Kentucky. Huntington (5-7) hosts Canton on May 21.
SAGINAW 76, CANTON 47: Saginaw scored 28 unanswered points over the second and third quarters to beat Canton, 76-47, Saturday. The 76 points tied for Saginaw’s single-game high and it allowed the Sting to stay one-game behind Northern Kentucky. (Game Stats)
LaVaughn Macon led the Sting with 10 catches for 107 yards and four touchdowns, while Andrew Beaver tallied a team-high 134 yards and two touchdowns. It was the third time this season both Macon and Beaver recorded at least 100 yards in the same game.
Saginaw quarterback Tommy Jones tied the Ultimate Indoor Football League record with nine touchdowns in the victory. He was 22-of-32 for 303 yards and one interception marking the third time this season Jones has eclipsed the 300-yard plateau.
Mike Williams had 164 yards on nine receptions and four touchdowns to lead Canton.
Saginaw (9-3) travels to Johnstown, while Canton hosts Saginaw on May 21.
