JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Missing some players to injuries and having several players out of position Saturday night, the Saginaw Sting dropped a road contest to the Johnstown Generals, 58-20.
The Sting (9-4) have already clinched a home playoff game and have one more regular season game at Huntington. The squad was looking to stay healthy and avoid any major injuries as it prepares for the home stretch leading to the playoffs.
"Our goal coming into the game was to stay healthy and we did," Sting coach Vince Leveille said. "We didn't have any injuries. So far so good."
The Sting were missing a few players and had just 15 suit up against the Generals. Many of the ones that did play occupied different defensive positions.
"We were short players and had several players playing out of position," Leveille said. "We arrived about 30 minutes before the game. We weren't mentally ready for the game. Offensively, we didn't play well. We had too many turnovers.
"Defensively, we had too many players at different positions."
Ed Loscalzo led the defense with an interception and six tackles. Tommy Jones had a touchdown pass to Zac Nichols and Robert Haynes also scored on four-yard touchdown run. The other Sting touchdown came on a one-yard fumble return by LaVaughn Macon.
Nichols led the receivers with eight catches for 104 yards.

JOHNSTOWN — With the Johnstown Generals’ late push toward a UIFL playoff berth in full bloom, the squad has used the comforts of the Cambria County War Memorial Arena to its advantage all season long.
Using six interceptions and 16 defensive points, the Generals kept their postseason hopes alive with a dominant 58-20 win Saturday night over the Saginaw Sting.
Johnstown (5-8) has recorded all five of its wins at home this season.
“Basically, we’ve been looking to put a complete game together,” Generals coach Quenteen Robinson said.
“We knew that we were pretty dangerous when we’re clicking on all three phases. I take my hat off to my guys tonight.”
