Lorenzen named MVP as UIFL announce league honors

NKY quarterback Jared Lorenzen was named the UIFL MVP in a voting by league coaches and owners.
CANTON, OH – The Ultimate Indoor Football League is pleased to announce the All-UIFL honors for the 2011 season. Each team received two votes, one for the owner and one for the head coach. Three members of the league office were also given votes.
Jared Lorenzen, who finished tied for first-team quarterback with Saginaw’s Tommy Jones earned the league Most Valuable Player award as Jones picked up the Offensive Player of the Year. The two quarterbacks have been atop all the passing categories all season long. While Lorenzen leads the league with 256.6 yards per game, Jones is league leader with 76 touchdowns and a pass efficiency rating of 107.1
River Monsters defensive lineman Thomas McKenzie claimed the UIFL’s Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Northern Kentucky leads the way with eight first-team selections, including four on offense. Saginaw and Eastern Kentucky had three first-team honorees each.
The UIFL also honored the behind the scenes members of the respective organizations. Eastern Kentucky’s Rick Kranz was named the Marketing Executive of the Year, while Huntington’s Daniel Fisher and NKY’s Jayson Ameer Rasheed shared the Public Relations Executive of the Year honors. The Best Front Office award went to Huntington; Northern Kentucky earned the Best GameDay Experience and Saginaw was awared the Best GameDay Environment. Cujo The Cougar (Canton) and D-Lion (Johnstown) were named the league’s Best Mascot.
The inaugural UIFL season concludes 7:30 p.m. Friday with Ultimate Bowl I, sponsored by Trophy Awards, as Saginaw hosts Eastern Kentucky at the Dow Center. The league will hold a halftime presentation to present the first team awards.
