I know it's not a popular stance, and I understand why it's not a popular stance, but I don't mind the travel teams. Haines' original AIFL had the Raleigh Rebels as a planned travel squad and they actually won a game on the field. I expect the same type of "ok this team isn't that bad" here.

Especially if they treat the teams with the same salary rules, they won't be that bad imo

Ha. "That bad."
That bad = 2-12 to 0-14. That's bad.
Have either of you gone to any of these type of games? They're bad.

And the Legends were also a terrible team that year...not saying much.

And the Legends were also a terrible team that year...not saying much. No, they were very much average. In no way a title contender, but not all that bad. Offense was not good in that Raleigh game, though (the Rebels had a reasonably strong defense, though, esp for a travel team).

Raleigh was 1-7 in actual games played; they received two forfeit wins over the Ghostriders. Canton was very average, which was good enough to finish 2-1 against Raleigh; they just couldn't get over the hump against Erie or Richmond.
The Legends lost five games by fewer than 10 points. Their defense was just pitiful; by year's end Dan Larlham (QB) had it going pretty good.

Haven't you heard, forfeits are still wins. This year's Canton team also lost some close games, but a loss is a loss. Like I said, if you're happy with terrible teams and play, more power to you. I refuse to settle for that stuff though.

Moved the UIFL Travel-Only team discussion out of the 2011 Team Movement thread since it was off-topic. Feel free to discuss the UIFL Travel-Only teams here.

Is this why you don't go to Beef playoff games, though?

Here is my question: Why does the UIFL feel the need to have travel only teams? Seems like expansion is going great and rumors of the Texas teams joining are hot right now. Seems like travel only teams is just begging for problems (i.e. teams not showing up to play or folding midseason).
One more good season of the UIFL and I think you could talk about them rivaling the IFL for #1 status in the indoor world. If it ain't broke why fix it?

Trying to bring down the Beef just shows your argument for what it is...weak. Forfeits do count since the team that folded would've lost on the field anyway had they continued playing. Just because it's a forfeit doesn't make it any less a victory. The best evidence that Canton blew is that they LOST to a travel-team...lmao. Case closed...lol. Have fun going to the games against the travel-only team in Canton next year...lol...will be top-notch quality there. Oh wait, forgot, you don't go to games.

In the 2005 case, Raleigh would have *probably* beaten the Ghostriders twice, but it's really hard to tell; the Ghostriders had a few very strong offensive outputs, while the Rebels had a couple games where they just stunk up the joint. In terms of favoring a team, Raleigh would've been favored to beat the Ghostriders both times, but a split wouldn't have shocked me. I am, however, glad you are a well-versed expert in the quality of the football in the AIFL in 2005. I know you probably saw 15 or 20 games that year, so you really know by heart how good or bad the teams were. Oh, wait, you didn't (and since they didn't have video online, I know you weren't able to see them in the comfort of your computer chair, either). But I did. So, you're going to go off of conjecture, or go off of what someone *who saw games played* has to say. Let's put it this way - there are far worse teams that had home arenas than the Raleigh Rebels were (your standard below-average fare that were good enough to come up and bit someone if they let it happen). Two of them were in the IFL this year.

Raleigh, Ghostriders, Canton...all blew that year. You want to argue for them, up to you. No one else will share your opinion...lol.
