It’s been a while since my last blog, very busy throughout the league! I’m working from home today catching up, and it is a nice morning sunny and mid 70′s. I love having my office in SWFL!
Since my last blog the UIFL has made a team change and replaced the Saginaw Sting with the newly formed Western PA Sting. The Western PA Sting have hired a Head Coach (Paul Pennington). The team will be announcing additions to the coaching staff and their first set of players in the next week or two.
Lots of questions have been emailed to me regarding the Sting. So let me try and answer some of them.
The Sting will play a 14 game schedule, and will be eligible for post season play. Some of the Sting home games will be played in Johnstown. Right now approx 3 of the home games will be played in Johnstown. The other games will be played at some current arenas we have teams, and we may possibly host a game at a potential city for 2013. The Sting home schedule will be finalized before January. The team will operate like the other UIFL teams, just without a permanent home for the 2012 season.
The teams are now all up and running. All teams have front office staff, and coaches in place. The Tennessee Rail Runners will be announcing their head coach in the next week or two.
Things are progressing well throughout the league. We are currently working on some league wide sponsorship deals, and talking with potential expansion markets. I expect to be announcing our first expansion team for the 2013 season before the start of the upcoming season. The UIFL currently has ownership opportunities available. Interested parties should complete our online application here: theuifl.com/teams/expansion-teams
It’s exciting that the UIFL is now a public company. We are the only indoor/arena football league that is a SEC reporting public company. The UIFL is a public company and is currently in good standing with the United State Securities & Exchange Commission (“SEC”) under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Although the company is not currently publicly traded, it is management’s intention to become a publicly traded company at the appropriate time. The UIFL is current with the SEC, the status of which may be viewed on the SEC Web Site. The following link has been provided for your convenience.

On Friday January 13th, the UIFL along with Conquest Sports & Entertainment Management will be hosting a pro day combine in Fort Myers, FL. This combine is free to all players under contract with a UIFL. The combine is also open to non-UIFL players for a fee. Invited to the workout is CFL, and NFL personnel. Our goal is to help players move up to the CFL and NFL, and we will do everything in our power to get players exposure.
Then on Saturday and Sunday (January 14th & 15th), the UIFL will be hosting our Winter League meetings in Fort Myers, FL. The meetings will include team owners, general managers, and head coaches. We will make sure we get some behind the scenes video, and update you all throughout the weekend.
Until next time…happy holidays!
