"It is exciting that our organization was able to get Owens to come and play here at the Santa Ana Star Center, said Dart Clark, Owner/General Manager of the New Mexico Stars. "This is his first away game in league history, and I have no doubt the Star Center will reach capacity and our fans will welcome him the only way they know how."
Owens joined the Allen Wranglers in the off-season as a wide receiver and co-owner. Owens entered the Indoor Football League after 15 seasons in the National Football League with five different teams. In one game this season with the Wranglers, Owens had three receptions, all touchdowns, for 53 yards which helped the Wranglers to a 50 - 30 win over the Wichita Wild. However, his contract does not require him to travel to away games.
The Wranglers currently sit atop the Intense Conference with a 2-0 record. Owens did not play in the Wrangler's second game of the season against the Everett Raptors in Everett, WA which they won 48-28.
The New Mexico Stars will head into play on Sunday looking to remain undefeated against Owens and the Wranglers who also have yet to lose in the 2012 campaign.
